The results of the 23rd Nikkan Sports Film Awards were released on December 1. This year's big winner is Akunin, which achieved the triple crown by winning in three categories: Best Picture, Best Actor (Tsumabuki Satoshi), and Best Actress (Fukatsu Eri). Akunin, based on the novel of the same name, depicts the human events surrounding a murder case by following the tragic story of a woman who falls in love with the murder suspect.
The award ceremony for the Nikkan Sports Film Award is scheduled to take place at a hotel in Kioicho, Tokyo on December 28. The results of the Fan Awards for Best Picture and Best Foreign Picture, determined by fans voting from a set of 20 nominees, will be announced at a later date.
