the year 2007

Dec 29, 2007 00:05

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Went to Boston for the 4th of July, drove to Boston by myself, crocheted a hat, ate at Krispy Kreme, rode in a limo, rode on an amtrak train, hmm.. I'm trying to wrack my brain for other things but just can't really think of anything else that I haven't done before. Exciting, huh?

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any new year's resolutions. I usually don't. If I'm going to make one for 2008, it will be to eat better and exercise more. And be more confident.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth or get pregnant?
No, not really close to me.

4. Did anyone close to you get married?
Amy, Katie and Tim, and suprisingly some more friends of mine will be before the end of the year...

5. Did anyone close to you die?
no

6. Travel?
Warrenton MO, Boston, New Hampshire.. yep I think those pretty much cover it.

7. Did you move anywhere?
Lived in Warrenton for 3 months and Dedham for a month.

8. What was the best month?
Hm.. that's a hard one. You know, nothing really sticks out right now. January was okay, end of February/ beginning of March I got really sick, so that's out. April was okay. May was uneventful. June was chaotic because of Summer Missions and the beginning of getting sick, and July was even worse. August was wondering when I was going to get better. And September-December were not very good months because I was trying to get better and was sitting at home waiting to go to school and not able to do anything like get a job because I was trying to get better. So, I guess 2007 doesn't really have a best month for me. Sad, isn't it? Well, I'll go with January. I got to see some friends again and met some cool people in the CMI class.

9. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Um, more self-esteem, all of my support raised! To be in good health.

10. What date(s) from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
2 days in June, I think it was.. one when I talked to Meaghan for the first time in like, a year and a half, and another when her and Rachael and I talked, and I think those ones pretty much speak for themselves. The day the Moses' got a new fridge. Talk about an embarrassing day. Every time I recount that day I laugh.

11. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Um, getting through my internship? I'd say that's a pretty big one. I wasn't even sure I was going to make it through after the whole bout with mono. Making it through 4 weeks of Boston, for the same reason.

12. What was your biggest failure?
Hmm.. I'd say not staying on top of support raising. It's hard.

13. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Ha. Let's see.. mono, Epstein- Barr virus (kind of the same thing...), bronchitis, had an asthma attack that sent me to the ER, and had to take a semester off from college because of EBV. Oh yeah, apparently chronic tonsilitis too, for which I'll be having my tonsils removed in like 2 weeks. Those are just the major things.

14. What was the best thing you bought?
Hm. I don't really remember. Nothing jumps out. I know this sounds silly, but the only thing that really pops out right now is this little bead case I bought. I made tons of jewelry with that thing and some wire. It was great. I got a cell phone, too, but techincally I didn't buy it because the actual phone was free.

15. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Hm. Amelia was a trooper this summer. She had to pick up a lot of slack for me when I was sick, like driving in Boston! and doing a lot of the teaching.
Carolyn was always there for me.
And Mandi is someone I know I can always talk to about anything. She always offered up a listening ear. And she could make me laugh.
Melissa Guyatt went to Burkina Faso for like 6 months. I find that pretty admirable.
My aunt Elizabeth was in the hospital for 5 weeks for complications with her pregnancy, but she's stayed positive through it all. And my Aunt Jen and grammy have really done a lot to help out in the whole situation. Elizabeth has another child, my one-year old cousin Emily, who spent a lot of time at my grammy's and aunt's. They were both willing to give of their time and willing to drive back and forth to Revere to help out with different things.

16. Whose behavior made you appalled and/or depressed?
Um, a lot of people. I have way too high expectations of others. I had a lot of faith in someone in my family but I found out some things that really disappointed me.

17. Where did most of your money go?
CEF-related things. Mostly travel expenses.

18. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going back to CEF in January and seeing friends again, especially the interns. Finding out there would be a team to Boston in the summer. Finding out there will most likely be a team to Sierra Leone next summer.

19. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Um, hmm.. i dunno. Boston by Augustana? I really like that song, and it's about Boston, and I went there this summer. Hey There Delilah. I just like that song and I remember always hearing it on the radio and never getting sick of it.

20. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Compared to this time last year.. maybe happier. I'm not really sure.
ii. thinner or fatter? Probably fatter. Wahh.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer. I worked at the nursing home last year when I came home from CMI, so I actually had money.

21. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Running, reading, being crafty, spending time/keeping in touch with friends

22. What do you wish you'd done less of?
worrying, wasting time

23. How will you be spending New Year's Eve/Day?
Probably at Rachael's with everyone as usual. :)

24. What was an unexpected surprise?
Finding out about people getting engaged/ married. Finding out some friends are getting married much sooner than expected. Hearing from Meaghan.

25. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Sadly, no.

26. What was the best concert you've been to this year?
Matthew West/ Ayeisha Woods, and Boston Pops on the 4th of July.

27. What was your favorite TV program?
American Idol, Biggest Loser, Little People Big World

28. Do you dislike anyone now that you didn't dislike this time last year?
I'm not sure. Probably.

29. What was the best book you read?
Fiction: I'm in the middle of Twilight right now, and that's pretty good. White Chocolate Moments was good, too. I think I rediscovered a love for reading this year.
Non-Fiction: Probably Passion and Purity by Elisabeth Elliot. I really liked that.

30. What was your greatest musical discovery?
um, hm. James Morrison maybe.

31. What did you want and get?
I wanted a team to Boston this summer and that happened.

32. What did you want and not get?
To get better. To go to college.

33. What was your favorite film of this year?
Dan in Real Life was really good. And The Pursuit of Happyness. And of course, Pirates 3. And High School Musical 2!

34. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went to Krispy Kreme, went shopping, and taught a 5 Day Club.

35. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Um, not getting sick.

36. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Idk. It was a little more mature than how I used to dress, at least during my internship. I think I've drifted away from the cutesie stuff to more classic pieces, at least moreso lately.

37. What kept you sane?
God. Friends.

38. What political issue stirred you the most?
I guess the whole anti-war sentiment. We're there for a reason.

39. Who did you miss?
Friends. When I was at school I was far away from my home friends and when I was at home I was far away from my school friends at even at home I missed my home friends because even though they were close compared to my school friends, I didn't get to see them much. That's what happens when everyone else has a life and you don't.

40. Who was the best new person you met?
hmm... Amelia and Katie, a girl at my church who moved up from Tennesse in July.

41. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
It's okay to not be okay. I'm not perfect and never will be here on earth. I need to not be so hard on myself.

42. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
now and again i lose sight of the good life
i get stuck in a low light
but then Love comes in
