I've been flamed! Nearly 2 years in this fandom and I FINALLY received my first flaming email today. WHEEEE.
09/09/03
I have read chapters 1-3 in total shock! I guess I was curious at first and then it was like a car wreck I could not stop...The idea of two men, let along THOSE two men getting it on was intriguing, even arousing at times, but a bit far stretched. Hence the label: FICTION...getting past that, have you had any response from the actual people, especially Viggo, who you portray as a jealous, closeted, repressed gay man. I don't clam to know anything about Mr. Mortensen, other than what I have read in his interviews, but by all accounts, and if my gaydar serves me right he is straight. Unless these stories are written with some underlining truth with a reliable
source?
In addition, what about Sean and Orlando? Gay, come on, some men lie and even marry to conceal their homosexuality to the world, but in this day and age it is okay to be gay...I guess I don't like the idea of these guys, especially Viggo, being portrayed as gay...in the future if you want to fantasize, keep it to yourself in the privacy of your "wet dreams".
Mad
And my response as follows:
Dear Mad,
Before I go any further, I want to get one thing straight: I refuse to turn this into a huge discussion over the rights and/or wrongs of RPS fiction. If you don't like it, don't read it, plain and simple. At one point in time, I absolutely abhored the thought of RPS. But like most slashers, I got over my objections, and fast. Just in case you weren't aware, there is an entire fandom of readers and writers alike of RPS, RPF, and, believe it or not, RPH. Shocking though it may be for you, I write all three. I also write children's stories. Oh, and I read to senior citizens at the local retirement home on Saturday mornings.
I never said any person I have written RPS about is gay, sexually repressed, closeted, etc. What I said if you had clearly read the disclaimers is that they are NOT any of those to my knowledge. I do not know any of these actors, but I know many people who do. And perhaps it may come as a shock to you to learn that your "gaydar" must be off because several of the Rings actors are not only gay, but Bi-sexual. Shocking, it must be I realize.
It is not my place to say whether they are or not. My site, hence the possessive pronoun of MY, is just that. My place to archive my so called "wet dreams" as you so crudely put it.
You state that you continued reading the story because you were interested, that it was even arousing at times, yet accuse me of fantasizing. This is what fanfiction is all about, my dear. If you don't like the topic, DO NOT READ. I presume you're referring to my piece, Still Interlude, since you mentioned Viggo, Sean and Orlando, and that is the only story I have the three of them paired together.
Do I personally think Viggo is gay, straight, bi or clumsy? As I said, I've never met the man. I do not presume to think anything. I simply write what I fantasize about and place it where I wish because it is MY site, MY journal, MY right to do so.
So just as you felt it was YOUR right to put me in my place, please allow me to put you in yours:
Unless you can look at yourself and find nothing wrong, do not judge me.

PS: In case you want to read more car wreck fiction that has won several awards in the Slash fandom, feel free to browse my LJ as it has more wet dreams I'm sure even you could get off to if you really tried.
