Yet another random, rare update...

First, I absolutely despise typing up nearly four paragraphs only to hit the wrong button on my mouse and watch it all disappear.

As for Chains of Promathia, I do love the missions, even if they cost a good deal of cash in funding the medicines required for them. For instance, the Riverne Site #A01 BCNM I did a few weeks ago. We did win, even with only five people. Our summoner died only a minute or two into the BCNM, leaving us to make the quick decision of trying to complete the fight regardless. I personally used a lot of mp items that fight, including 2 hi ethers and 2-3 yagudo drinks. Hi potions are nice even for mages; one shortly before I converted saved me while kiting the third Mammet. Yes, you can main heal during this fight *and* kite, without a ninja sub, as long as you have at least one successful bind and one shadowbind, though more is always extremely helpful.

More recently, though, was the excessive footwork and many cutscenes we all ran through before fighting the next two NMs in the missions. We chose to take Overgrown Ivy first, as it was late and we didn't feel like climbing any mountains. Ivy was actually very easy, and we took it out in a single skillchain, leaving the Malboro dead before any magic bursts could even land. Lioumere was much more difficult for us, if only because the stubborn antlion refuses to stay away from her base for any real period of time. The fight was busy enough that I neglected to take any screenshots, if only because I spent the entire fight after the initial cast of gravity chain-nuking in an attempt to kill Lioumere before she regained health a second time. One full mithra-MP bar (~650), one Dancing Edge, a Sidewinder, Vorpal/Swift Blade, and Guillotine later, we picked up our shiny new jewel keyitems and headed up the Parradamo Tor cliffside. My notes from the day's earlier guided tour up the cliff were no help at all, and we spent well over an hour and a half becoming more and more irritated with SquareEnix and each other before finally making it to the top. There are really beautiful views up there at night, which I've got to find my pictures of.

The past few days, however, I've spent farming and exploring Pso'Xja. I really do enjoy running around in there, if only because I know that I almost always make sure I have complete control of what happens to me while I'm running around in there. The fact that I once escaped with ~140hp after catching casting aggro doesn't make me any less paranoid, though. I fully expected to have taken far more damage than I did, but I suppose I got very lucky. If Quake had done any more, I probably would have died. The next time I saw those aggro, it was the summoner in my party who got caught. The pot began casting Freeze, and I immediately turned and cast Silence - bringing the entire room of pots alive, and watching as one started casting Tornado. I fled, running down several hallways before stopping to Sleepga them all, then ran back to my group and escaped us to erase aggro. There are reasons I prefer my BLM subjob above all...Escape and Sleepga are only two.

Another is that RDM/BLM (or RDM/anything, really) works very well with a THF/NIN, as is continually proven time and again. From duoing Mimics - and coming out with barely a scratch - to two sets of paired doll NMs (Gargoyle-Kappa and Gargoyle-Iota, Gargoyle-Lambda and Gargoyle-Mu), I'm wondering why I'd ever explore new areas as anything more than a duo, aside from simply showing others around. That task, however, continues to be very hazardous to my health. The same mimics that are so very easy for a pair nearly wiped our five-person party later on. We didn't even dare take the second set of dolls with that party, as they are forced spawns near the aforementioned pots, but we did get the other three members their blue bracelets. I've got no idea how on earth to get the green bracelets unless Lockee and I do the entire fight ourselves and have the others simply stand on the sidelines, which I know will cause grief. I've already had more than my share of drama recently, and I'm not at all interested in any more of it.

I did get to work on a few quests while I was up in the frozen north, too. One was another drop for my Brown Belt (first time killing Nue, too!), and the second was completing a Jeuno quest involving the Avatar Gate and an area that reminded me of Windurst's Horutoto Ruins.

Hoping for a Diabolos run to give me reason to update again soon...
