Long update.
So, it's been awhile since I've updated. I've completed two promyvions - and discovered that I love doing them as summoner, with a nin/war and war/nin as dual tanks. I used to hate the thought of NIN tanks, and they really are very fragile, but at the same time have a sexiness to them - for lack of a better word right now - that I enjoy having around.
Currently working on outfitting RDM with everything I've wanted - Shaman's cloak obtained at lv57, RDM af bodypiece gotten at lv56, Hornetneedle dagger gotten at lv57. Star necklace will hopefully be gotten soon, and RDM af hat ought to be gotten this weekend. Setup and thoughts listed below. I know I'm going to be bossy sounding on this, but I don't feel like having to deal with a lot of unnecessary deaths during an event where I'm using up a lot of the favours people owe me. I don't fully trust a few of the people in the planned alliance, but they are LS members and have posted that they would like to attend on the forums, so I've placed them where they're least likely to cause any harm. However, as long as people listen to me, everything ought to run smoothly. I intend to be the alliance leader, and I've made sure to think through the choices for the other two party leaders.
Most of the things I've been working on as RDM lately have been duo'd or trio'd as a 57thf/nin, myself, and if trio'd then we've got a 72thf/nin with us as well. I'm loving the duoing capabilities of RDM+THF/NIN, and hopefully when he gets his NIN main up (the af should be very simple, aside from ifrit's cauldron coffer) it will be about as good. I'll miss SATA, though. It's somehow entrancing to watch the animations go off and then the numbers fly by. I still enjoy RDM+DRG/WHM as duoing partners, but as of late I've really actually preferred the other person to be thief. Strange, since I used to hate thieves. Then again, at the advice of both of the aforementioned other thieves I'm leveling the job myself, and I'm actually excited about it. It'll be a fun change of pace, I think, and should also give me the money I need to spoil RDM and SMN. That doesn't mean I'm cheaping out on THF at all; quite the contrary. I'm currently waiting until the December update before I make any more large purchases, in case something better comes along and I can't resell due to dramatic pricedrops. In the meantime, I've gotten around 150k+ in a few days' time of casual farming with the thieves I know - which, for a mage, is a very decent amount for just casual farming for a couple of hours here and there.
However, I know that once I start up leveling this new class, I'm going to refuse to curetank or powerlevel for anyone unless it is a linkshell event where they specifically need me to do so. I mean, I love my static, but powerleveling them - and nearly everyone else I know - for hours on end when I would MUCH rather be getting my RDM to 60 bores me to tears. It's also a little irritating - I got two subs for my RDM up with no powerleveling at all, suffering through bad parties nearly constantly because I didn't want to ask anyone else to powerlevel me, and yet it seems as though everyone else - mainly people with no mage jobs - have no qualms whatsoever about asking me to powerlevel them. Guilting is not a nice tactic; don't abuse it because you think you can get away with it. It's not nice.
BST is on a continued pause, as I'm not entirely sure on how I want to go about leveling it. I was hoping to duo, but each person I had that planned with has either decided to level other jobs or quit the game entirely. I'd also like to get RDM, SMN, and THF fully artifacted before going back to beastmaster, I think, for a better sense of completion.

NOTES on Fei'Yin and Garlaige: For Fei'Yin, there *are* magic aggro pots, golems, and dolls around. Most of the things at the spot we need to go to are too weak to be worthwhile to me at 57, though. There are also bats that aggro to sound and, if you're high enough to not be aggrod normally, they will aggro to /heal. We'll need to clear the rooms ahead of time, but watch where and when you sit anyway. For Garlaige, we're behind the first banishing gate so we'll need to definitely clear that area as well. Keep in mind that undead aggro low hp from a LONG range, and the same issue with bats is here as well.
