The hardest part is trying to get the people/horses in focus! But it's fun to slow down the action and see details that I miss when I watch it in real time.
I think I do have a DVD drive, actually... I put the LOTR DVDs into my comp and watch them all the time, if that's what you mean... a little place in the computer that says 'DVD', and that's where the DVDs go...
So since I can watch DVDs on the comp, will you share your secrets? :D
I have Power DVD, which pops up a little player with play, FF, REW, etc. buttons. One of these icons looks like a camera, and when you mouse over it, says "Capture Frames." What I do is pause the action at a point when what you want isn't blurry and simply click the camera icon.
Check the default location for where your caps are stored: mine are under program files>Cyberlink>PowerDVD>Images, but you can change locations if you want.
My program makes bitmaps (.bmp). These have to be converted to jpgs, pngs (ex.: icons with lettering), or gifs (ex.: minimovie icons) with a graphics package. I use MS PictureIt, which came with my DSL connection. MS Paint might do the conversion as well. Or Paint Shop Pro, PhotoShop, or whatever software came with a digital camera.
Picture file will be wide, so you'll prob. want to resize it as well before posting. Again, use your graphics package for this. I try to keep my pics <600 pixels wide so as not to mess up friends pages if I post them w/o an LJ cut. You prob. also will want to

Hi! :) Would I be able to use the pic. you have here of Aragorn and Eowyn for a picture captioning thing on one of the LJ communities? I always make up silly captions for the pics posted each month, but the month my caption actually *won*. :)
So now *I* have to come up with the next pic to be captioned and I have no idea where to even start looking. You came to mind immediately, since I always love the pics you post here. And this pic. has definite possibilities. :)
I won't do anything until you say either yes or no. :) But ty in advance for taking the time to let me know. :)

Gotta admire a man who can keep a good straight face when he says that his horse is his best friend. (And I even start to believe that it's true!)
