{picspam} genderswap: never let me go

OH GOD THIS IS FINALLY DONE. This is the product of a great deal of procrastination and, obviously, Vickie's request that I tackle this. I think I'e apologised about a million times already but I feel it's worth re-iterating for a final time: I am not what one would call a proficent (or efficient) user of Photoshop. So let's just leave the ( Read more... )

Oh Cillian Murphy and his beautiful, expressive face, I can't even.

The thing I love most about genderswap, and it's particularly true of this, is that swapping the genders brings out all these interesting tensions and dynamics in the text which are such fun to play with. Really though, so many projects could probably have been improved with a genderswap I swear. And :D :D you are far too kind.

I'VE NOT SEEN THE TROTSKY BUT ANYTHING INVOLVING TALENTED CANADIANS IS AUTOMATICALLY SOMETHING I WILL BE INTERESTED IN. (Ugh Quebec City, home of my heart, I miss you so. Let's be real, I miss Canada in general.) Augh I know exactly what you mean my love for film/television is fucking boundless and there are so many things they could/should be doing and they aren't and thus I feel the need to fix it in my own small ways.

(Ugh, I'm still not ~happy~ with it because goddamn but HQ photos were hard to find and I am still covering up my inabilities with proficient use of layering lol but thank you so much! Really though, Photoshop and I are not good friends. It sits there gathering dust until something like this comes up and then it never does anything I want it to.)

ARGH EXACTLY. That type of cutting, insecure jealousy is coded as being feminine so when you swap the genders, you get to expose the reasons for why the character acts that way as opposed to resting on "this is a portrayal of a typical, selfish woman in a love triangle". And you're absolutely right, no matter how hard people try it is really hard to get away from the stereotypically gendered traits.

WILL DO RN AND ATTEMPT TO WATCH IT TOMORROW. I've only been once, for a week when I was fifteen and augh the best. It's just so beautiful and it has such history and charm and I just remember tripping around with joy pretty much the entire time. Montreal is a close second because it's so vibrant and amazing but Quebec City is actually incredible. Sometimes I feel like I should just up and move for a year so I could actually speak French thus no longer disappointing that entire side of my family, oh well.

ONE DAY. I hold out hope that someday someone at the BBC will take pity on my soul and let me into a writer's room so I can fix their dramatic output.

(Eek tiny headshots are the worst, but finding screencaps is always such a trial. Really though, finding things for Ruth was so hard oh my.)
