SHAKESPEARE: a fic extravaganza!

Aug 07, 2010 03:29

Okay, so I'm a Shakespeare nerd. Not perhaps as well-versed as others but I love me some of the Bard. But you know what I love more than the Bard? Messing about with his stuff. No really. So, if you've ever read a Shakespeare play, or watched a performance and felt like this:

This is for you.

If you wonder how Macbeth would turn out genderswapped? Request it. Do you ever wonder what happened off stage with Ophelia and Laertes? Request it. If you've always thought perhaps Rosalind/Celia was the OTP of that play? Request it. This is for the ellipses, the asides, the alternate universes you've always wanted to see or wanted to write. This was inspired by Lady Fest '10 in which I ended up writing about Rosaline and her badass self in Romeo & Juliet and just the sheer amount of genderbending Shakespeare fic requests out there, I thought "Hey, you know what? WE SHOULD DO THIS." So here I am.

The Rules!
1. Post prompts! They can be on any play and any character at all, as long as it's written by Shakespeare. Please format them as follows: Play Title, character(s) [+ pairing if necessary], your prompt aka lyrics, quotation, plot point etc.
e.g Hamlet, girl!Hamlet, with cousins and colors and somewhere overseas

2. Prompt wise, pretty much anything and everything goes. As you can already see, genderbending is more than acceptable if not actively encouraged (but no really, my requests will be heavily leaning that way folks). If you want to cross characters from different plays, that's fine by me. Just alter the prompt appropriately.3. Answer prompts! You're welcome to play around with the basic request, but it's essentially up to you. Please, please, please (and I cannot stress this enough) respond by formatting the subject line as such: title, Play Title, character(s) [+ pairing if necessary], rating
e.g the only sentimental thing, Hamlet, girl!Hamlet, pg-13

4. Please give feedback. We all know we thrive on it. Four for you feedback givers, you go feedback givers.

And that's essentially it folks. Promotion code is here (feel free to liberally apply this all over your flist, the more Shakespeare ridiculousness, the better):

GO FORTH AND FIC SHAKESPEARE
