After being a Special Agent in Charge at White Collar, Tim steps up to join the Agents of SHIELD. Though, hum, from the Zap2It article, not much in common with our adorable Peter Burke...
Why sad? He's good at playing baddies. And I'm sure he'll play other good guys in the future. But after so many episodes of being the master of adorableness, Tim probably needed to shake it off a bit... ;-)
It'll take some time for him to get a major role. He's barely finished filming White Collar 2 months ago. I'd say it's just a guest starring role to keep himself busy. Also maybe introducing himself to a younger audience?
(On the Zap site article, someone was excited to see him guest starring because he would bring the big WC fanbase. ;-) )
Honestly I'd rather have him guest star in a show I actually watch (The Good Wife or Person of Interest, or even How to Get Away with Murder, that'd be awesome), but at least that's something I'll be able to watch. Not so sure about Matt's freak show...

It's the same cardboard cut-out type of character he played in Chuck, in Revenge, in NCIS. It'll be good to see him, but where's the quality?

Given who Tim is going to be portraying, I think this could be a lot more than just a quick throw away role.

And now that we've seen the article on marvel.com, which says "his first appearance," it seems even more possible.
One can hope! <3
