I guess I'm staying in this weekend.

I've come down with a cold, which is upsetting, because I had Plans for this weekend. Granted, they were Maybe Go to That Festival in Otsu and Then Get Dinner, but Stay in Bed Hopped Up on Cold Medicine and Generally Going Waily Waily Waily leaves a lot to be desired.

On that note, last night in my cold medicine stupor I kept getting annoyed at my phone constantly beeping to tell me I was getting emails, so I rashly deleted everything in my inbox. Ooops. This is almost as funny as that time my cousin Allison thought I flushed my phone down the toilet because I was upset about the wake up call (this is not what happened). I wish I could tell her this, because I think she'd find it funny, but I live across the world from her.

Whatever, I can be homesick if I want to be, I have a bad cold.

RIGHT. NICE THINGS NOW:

IT LOOKS AWESOME I'M EXCITED! Edmund is one of my all time favorite characters, so NEEDS THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF EDMUND POSSIBLE, PLEASE. But still lame about Eddie Izzard no longer being Reepicheep.

Also, Japan beat Argentina last night! I wasn't expecting to have an emotional investment in the game, I was just watching because 1) it was on at a decent time, 2) Lionel Messi, you tiny little cutie, and 3) hello, Uchida and Kagawa. Forget SMAP, these boys are my idols. Anyway, as it turns out, I actually really wanted Japan to win, which I wasn't aware of until the game got underway. I've lived here for six months now, and this was the first time I felt a connection to the country in any sense other than the general awe of a tourist.

THEN MY GERMAN BBS BEAT TURKEY even without Herr Schweinsteiger. I felt so bad for Ozil, though. First of all, I think people who boo others are completely classless. I can understand that you'd want someone so good on your team, but integration issues are this whole big deal, expats and second/third generation immigrants and cultural identity and societal pressures; this is kind of my thing, you guys, it's what I ended up having gone to college for and stuff.

I have a lot to say on integration theories, and I am totally ready to bring out the cultural relativism bitchslap if necessary.

And then, because I was awake at that point, I watched the second half of Spain-Lithuania. I can't help it; I'm sort of falling for Spain. I was all set to hate them forever after the World Cup, but then I had to watch Real Madrid just once to see how Ozil and Khedira were doing, and I'm kind of smitten.

Now I'm going to make some gyoza for lunch, because that is what's in my freezer, and then huddle myself under some blankets and watch: Bones, The Office, 30 Rock, Community, TBBT, The Vampire Diaries, and possibly The Mentalist, Castle, and Gossip Girl, in between napping and maybe curling up with a fun but time-wasting YA fantasy novel that I've already read, I'm thinking maybe something from Song of the Lioness for reasons I will probably post about soon, and I will come out again on Tuesday.

WASTE OF A LONG WEEKEND ILLNESSES ARE LAME
