Paradise lost... almost found!

When Summer comes everybody feels a sudden and irrational joy about a number of small details.
Maybe it's just a Mediterranean thing. Maybe we are as silly as this season but wearing the first sleeveless top, eating the first ice cream on the street and sinking bare feet in the sand are things that make us feel strangely alive, as if we're doing them for the first time.
We want to smile all the time and we can't really work, can we? It is not fair nor human. The smiles turns into frowns: The beach is beckoning for us, let's murder the boss!
Oh, well, in a less soap-opera version one can always skip work and hit the sand. That's what I did!

Friday morning, me and Highlander set out to discover the wonders of the Serra da Arrabida, a small and beautiful mountain we see at a distance from our bedroom window. The drive there was very scenic and when we saw the blue ocean on the other side of the hills we were extatic!

We went to a small beach called Portinho da Arrabida, which was almost empty and chose a nice spot near some rocks.
Everything was just perfect apart from... well, when I was putting some sun block on Highlander's pale skin (he would hate me for this - sunblock is for babies, as you all know...) a strong sudden wind threw tons of sand at us! Since we couldn't stay in the sand like a bunch of lazy lizards I decided we should bathe, my favorite part! Wrong choice! No matter how inviting this water looks, I was still not ready for it. One quick dive, two... and the third I had to save for another day...

We ended up at the restaurant eating like there is no tomorrow and that was really the best part of the day!
This must mean I am getting old...
