I am probably getting married in August. It will take around 30 days for the paperwork to go through; so if I file it in July when my vacation starts it will be ready by August. I still don't know how much it costs to translate your vital documents though, so if it's a lot I will wait until my cat has been spayed to get the papers finished.
I want a residency permit so I can return to Hungary long-term if I decide to go back to the United States for a prolonged period of time and have to quit my job. This permit will allow me compete for jobs with people from EU member states (I am mostly fighting to the death with people from Ireland and the UK) because it will reduce the hassle of hiring an American. Right now I plan on staying with my current employer for the next two years or longer, but I might have to go back to the US for unforeseen reasons. Anyway, it will be nicer for my employer if I'm married because they won't have to keep sponsoring me for a work visa every year and paying tons of forint for the privilege.
Since this is a godless marriage of convenience you don't have to send me a toaster. But if you really want to send me a toaster (or a vibrator, or a panini press) I will gladly provide my address in an e-mail.
Yes, I am a hypocrite and I know I'm totally selling out. You can't be seventeen forever. (Also I am in love.)
