I don't know why I'm writing this, because I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said. Anyway...
I loved the episode. I was slightly spoiled about the flash forward, but I really tried hard not to read that whole post so I wasn't sure how reliable it was. I was going back and forth the whole ep on whether it was right or not. Those Christian mentions. I wonder if Jack knows what time period he's in. Maybe his sense of past/present/future is all mixed up. At least when he's drunk.
Hurley was so cool this ep. I loved how he could hardly believe that he saved the day. And Sawyer calling him "hero". I love those two together. Maybe now that Charlie's dead (I'm hoping for a miracle, but I'm not expecting it) Sawyer and Hurley will become closer friends. They work well together. Sayid, Jin and Bernard were great, too. I loved Rose making Bernard repeat that he's "a dentist, not Rambo." That whole rescue scene rocked. It's a bit disturbing that Sawyer can kill so calmly now. That's a big change for him, and pretty sad, too.
I loved the Skate stuff. It's so great that Kate finally confronted him about what's going on. I can understand why he's pushing her away. I really love the angst. :) I do wish the Jate alternative wasn't available, though.
The underwater scenes were poignant. I didn't get too upset when Charlie died. I think I said my goodbyes to him last week. When I watched the finale again today, I noticed him crossing himself. That got to me. And Mikael survives again? Up until this ep I was kind of hoping he'd join the Losties. They could use another medic. That can't happen now, though. Penny's reaction when she realizes Charlie knows Desmond, that she's finally found him, was sooo sweet.
And I've got to say (you might not like this Ceci), Danielle totally pwned when she decked Ben. He so had that coming.
I'm still not sure what I think about the direction the show's going in from here. There's so many questions. Most importantly, is the story going to continue from where the flash forward left off, or is Jack somehow going to go back and change the past? I don't know which would be better. Who's in the coffin? IF they're going to change the past, then I'm okay with it being Juliet or even Sawyer. The idea that Jack would change history to save Juliet is kind of romantic. Extremely pretentious on Jack's part, too, but that's Jack. :) Of course, the question I'm most interested in is what does this mean for Skate? Is the "he" Kate's going back to Sawyer? I don't like the idea that their whole relationship developed off screen. And if it is Sawyer, and they're going to change the past, does that undo Skate? As someone around here mentioned, "he" could be someone Kate's using to stay out of jail, but then where's Sawyer? (Or maybe she's out because Hurley covered her legal expenses. That'd be such a Hurley thing to do.)
I think it's going to take most of the summer to figure out whether I like the ending or not.
