My mom came to visit and we saw The Phantom of the Opera at Miller last night. It was okay. The acting was lacking all around, particularly with the woman playing Christine. The Phantom had a fantastic falsetto, but his performance wasn't all that dynamic either. Meg was by far the worst. Not only did she act as if she was constantly frozen in a child-like state of shock, she sang with some of the worst vibrato I have ever heard. Now, I understand that the part of Meg is to be played by a dancer, not a singer, but that's all the more reason for her to take out the vibrato. She was so bad, she couldn't even keep her harmony next to the other characters. It was terrible
Work days are boring and slow. Brad works right around the corner but I don't like to visit him because he never has anything to say. He wants to take a summer vacation, hiking up Lake Michigan to "find himself." Really I just think he wants to get away from me. Maybe he hopes that by spending time in isolation, he'll remember all the reasons why he wanted to be with me in the first place. He's discussed the idea before, so it would come as no surprise to me. It's depressing to feel like you're a pretty good person only to be with someone who has to take time off to remember why.
I'm going home tomorrow for the dentist appointment to end all dentist appoinments--three fillings and four wisdom teeth removed, all in one day. I'll be sitting around like a loaf for the entire weekend, no doubt. Unfortunately, I also have to pack up all my belongings. My dad is moving to St. Louis at the end of the month. Guess I forgot to tell you that, huh?
So, great. I'm here, my mother's in Indiana, my father's in Missouri, and my sister's in Florida. One happy family, alright.
