Giant Robots!

I've just been to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (which I didn't think could possibly live up to the visuals I'd seen) and it was fantastic. The colours are all muted and it's quite comic-bookish in terms of plot and dialogue (that's not a bad thing). I think the critics who have complained about the acting are kinda missing the point - in my opinion this was a really well put together movie which set out to pay homage to a particular style and it all works really well. The CGI stuff and real actors seem to be pretty well merged together - possibly the colouring helps there. Of course, you have to bear in mind that I'm still eye candy girl and was well wrapped up in the whole look of the thing. Go and see it and make up your own minds!

Amusing things include Polly's hair - which stays immaculate at all times - and a fantastic closing line.
