Back to the Iyengar Yoga class at the local gym - this time it was the real teacher rather than a substitute.

What is the difference between Iyengar and Ashtanga? Is the first one more static?

Yes. In Iyengar you tend to do one posture at a time and concentrate on getting it right. In Ashtanga (aka 'dynamic yoga' or 'power yoga') you do a few postures in a sequence - flowing from one to another.
