"Growing up, he was her uncle and she was fine with him." - Yes, but didn't Jeremy made some comment that hinted at the fact that they didn't like him much? I'm pretty sure he did.

Sorta not liking an uncle (and based on how they reacted to him before all of the crap went down showed that they were OK with him) is different from the "relationship" and that's using that term very loosely, Elena had with Isobel.

"So, no, Isobel did NOT deserve to be on that porch with Elena. Certainly not with her REAL mother." - I'm not going to argue whether she was *deserving* or not, because that wasn't my point anyway. That scene was meant to be symbolic and as such, I just thought it would've been even more symbolic and moving with Isobel in it. Just my personal, subjective opinion. (That, and I really like Mia Kirshner so it would've been lovely to see her haha)

Right, it was symbolic about Elena and her loved ones being together. This family being reunited in the peaceful afterlife. Isobel was not a part of their family. She screwed over John. Yes, she was trying to look out for Elena, but she did it in an underhanded, nasty way. She chose vampirism over Alaric. Elena knew her for literally a few hours. Literally. And in those few hours, Isobel disappointed her, kidnapped her brother, threatened the lives of her dearest friends, kidnapped her and made her so happy that her real mother (Miranda) was her real mother. She also dicked over and betrayed her father-figure (Alaric). And then to top if off, without warning Elena to turn away, walk away, anything, she burned herself alive right in front of Elena's eyes. THAT is Elena's knowledge of Isobel. This was symbolic of ELENA's peaceful afterlife. HER peace. Her peaceful reunion with HER family. John Gilbert is part of her family. She grew up with as, yeah, her kinda annoying uncle, but he was her father's brother. And then in the last month or so of his life, he was gentle and kind with her. He was trying to protect her. He gave her her mother's necklace, reminding her of their shared past, of the fact that he was the brother of the man she knew as her father. That he loved that man, that he loved her mother. Then he literally, *LITERALLY* died for her. He literally gave up his life selflessly for her. And not even that, he did it so that she wouldn't be a vampire. She would technically still be around, but he respected her wish, her desire so much of not wanting to be a vampire that he willingly DIED FOR HER. And even doing that he left her that beautiful letter telling her that whatever her choice was he just wanted her to be happy because he loved her.

The contrast between THAT and Isobel... that reunion was for ELENA. For HER family reunion. Isobel was not a part of it. I LOVED Isobel. I like Mia Kirshner a lot. If they hadn't introduced Jo and done with her what they did, with the girls and all, I would have adored had it been Isobel watching Alaric, but because of that story, it couldn't have been that. Hey, having Isobel watching Elena at some point while she was alive (perhaps a quick shot during Damon/Elena's wedding) would have been nice, maybe next to John, Miranda and Grayson, but not at that reunion with Elena's family.

"Erm, it was comfortable?" - Seriously? That's it? lol The main thing I didn't like about it was that it made me think of the prison world. So unless they're planning a surprise S9 in which they reveal that that Heaven at the end turned out to be another prison world, I'm going to be left thinking that they wanted to punish Nina for leaving the show and decided to put Elena in the least attractive outfit they could find ;)

I just didn't have a problem with it at all. I didn't think it was unattractive or anything. I thought she looked cute.

"I'm planning on starting in June." - Yay! ♥

Or not. I will, don't worry. But I have to be in the right mindset.

My goodness, I feel so stupid. I JUST realized today the reason that Isobel was NOT in that scene with Isobel. It had nothing to do with Elena and her loved ones, symbolism, blah, blah, blah. It had to do with what we were told specifically about Peace. DUH!

Isobel, no matter how much we loved her and how awesome she was, done did nothing to get into Peace. Girl wasn't there. She went to Hell and done burned up with it in Hellfire along with Katherine and all of its other inhabitants. Double duh!
