“He failed to actually save her. Heeheeheee! Chortle, chortle. Giggle, giggle.” - Ha, so true! Good point.

That really did tickle me pink.

“I was a tad confused by Stefan telling Damon that he could have forever with Elena because, well, he can't.” - Yes! I found it confusing too. Maybe he meant that in a, um, symbolic sense? In which case the wording “quite literally an eternity” is still strange, but oh well.

It was just... not good writing. (Caroline Dries would never!)

“I didn't like how Stefan still looked compelled in the beginning of his flashback. It was a cheap tactic that was used to fool viewers” - Probably so, of course, but I also think that he did it for Damon's sake. If he didn't make himself look compelled, Damon would've quickly guessed what was going on.

I mean on the street. He still looked compelled when he was on the street and just walking back the ambulance. Damon couldn't see him anymore. That was just for the viewers. Cheap tactic.

“Ugh, stupid wigs, Nina Dobrev just couldn't wait three weeks to cut her dang hair?!” - This is really puzzling. Has she done it on purpose?!! lol Either way, the wigs weren't that much of a problem for me. I had a much harder time with the make-up. I'm not an expert in the area, so I can't pinpoint what was most wrong with it (the eye make-up and the brows?) but there were a couple of shots when Elena or Katherine looked, er, strange. Just... not very much like herself. I don't know.

It was the hairline. The brows bothered you because the hairline looked so off... because of the FUCKING WIG!

“I was really looking forward to seeing Elena with Lizzie and Josie.” - Aw I actually didn't think of that, but you're right, it would've been a lovely scene.

Yes, it would have! HARUMPH!

“Regarding all of the many, many returns we got that were so very, very welcome, I did read that Bianca Lawson (Emily), Malese Jow (Anna) and Joseph Morgan (Klaus) couldn't be in the episode because of scheduling conflicts.” - Yes, Anna's absence made sense and I think Klaus' letter was a much better idea than his appearance would've been. I mean, Stefan just died, and even as a Klaroline shipper I think that showing Klaus and Caroline exchange looks in the very same episode would've been too much. The letter was perfect. I am very sad about Emily, though. Her absence was very noticeable.

Agreed all-around. Having Klaus and Caroline exchanging a look would have been a dagger to my heart and I'm someone who is all on board for Klaus/Caroline if Candice goes to TO. (I love Klaus on TO.)

“I would have much preferred a longer, more meaningful reunion for Damon and Elena-some actual dialogue between them would have been pretty damn nice too.” - Maybe I'm just desperate to rationalize this, but I'm more and more certain that it was all intentional to showcase the fact that they were in that stage when no words were necessary. Also, they had so so so many meaningful scenes in the past, so many beautiful words that like I mentioned earlier, there was really no way to top that in the finale in a truly satisfying way. Perhaps the silence was actually better - and more meaningful!

I do agree with this. Still, it would have been nice. But this rationalization really does work.

Well, as you know the DVD is out now and I'm quite disappointed with the deleted scenes and all. I really think the lack overall with this final release shows that the CW was just done with the show. Ah well. At least we did get this final season to wrap everything up.
