8.14 - 'It's Been A Hell Of A Ride' (The Vampire Diaries)
This took a few days longer because (a) I was sooo sick last week (the flu *and* two ear infections-fear not, I am on the mend now, yay! antibiotics!) and (b) well, this is a loooong post (a wee bit over 9,000 words, the third longest TVD post so far!) so, yeah, it took a bit of time. On another note when Kai took Stefan's arm to siphon him I was afraid for a second that he might siphon the cure out of him.
Also I guess Elena really won't return now until Bonnie dies, because I just can't see them solving the sleeping-beauty-dilemma anymore without Kai's help in the last two eps. And even if she would wake up now us far as we know the cure has been entirely moved into Stefan now; taking the cure from him now would kill him in a matter of months, so Damon wouldn't be able to take it from him just yet, so Stefan and Bonnie better live out their lives peacefully and happily and than die in a close timeframe of each other, so Elena will wake up and Damon can take the cure from his brother.
This would also mean though that Caroline will stay being a vampire(unless the writers come up with another twist/cure/whatever that is - which they totally could, after all this is TVD we're talkingabout here). So I've never been a hardcore Klaroline fan, but I admit to not disliking the idea of those two back in the day and ever since Stefan turned human (and Caroline as of yet hasn't) I can't seem to shake Klaus' parting words to Caroline ´that 'he was her first love, while Klaus intended to be her last'. Now I know that Klaus was talking about Tyler here, but his statement ('I intend to be your last') still stands. So I guess maybe we could see Caroline moving over to NOLA/TO, if they ever decide to do a timejump of a couple of decades/centuries on that show. Who knows? Just my speculation.
Finally, was I the only one being reminded me of the x-men movies and professor X when Alaric started talking about being a professor and wanting to found this special school for kids with special abilities?
Great episode, great recap, only two more to go now :( Can't wait for 8x15!

Yup, yup, yup. All around. I can't believe I didn't realize beforehand that OF COURSE they would bring Katherine back. It wouldn't have been right otherwise.
I would have loved her to get her redemption as hinted at in s5 (the dream Stefan gave her)
*sigh* Matt and human!Katherine... the couple that will never be. *double sigh*
but of course she is Katherine Pierce, she is a survivor, and she will do everything and anything to reach her goal.
Yup, yup, yup. Her mantra is "Better you than I."
I was surprised at first that she would be back, but it's not just brilliant story-writing, but also absolutely what the show has been showing and telling us all along. Katherine always survives, she always has a plan a to z and men just become her little puppets when they see and instantly fall for her, because she isn't just beautiful, but also manipulative and the best of them.
YES!! That's why I quoted what I'd written about her in "Gone Girl." It made perfect sense to me that Katherine would have not been allowed entrance into the Other World because the witches know damn well enough know that she would have manipulated and worked their system. So as soon as we found out that any of our old baddies were there (hi, Kai!), I should have realized that since Katherine was there, Katherine WOULD be returning. Because, duh, Katherine!
And the devil obviously is/was a man. So I wonder if she has been Cade's partner/loveinterest? all along whispering into his ear to send him after the Scooby-gang and the Salvatore bros in special or if she just conspirated with Kai waiting for the right moment to take over hell in Cade's absence/in case of his demise?
I think that it was Kai that Katherine was conspiring with. I don't think it was "romantic" (if one could use that word) because Kai still seemed sweet on Bonnie (which is hliariously awful!). I think it was more platonic evil buddies who don't give a flying fig newton about anyone other than themselves. As for her and Cade, as fantastic as Katherine is, I just don't see Cade falling for that. Hubris was his weakness, not passion.

Someone had that suggestion, but that wasn't a worry of mine because it really didn't make sense. The siphon has to actually TOUCH the magical object. In the case of the cure, the magic is in their bloodstream. Had Stefan had a cut and it was an open, bleeding wound, Kai (or any siphon) would be able to get the cure that way, but that's the only way I could see it happening.

No, I don't think so. Well, I mean, she might, but I'm sure the writers have something up there sleeve. And if Bonnie dying and "living" forever in her psychic realm with Enzo is supposed to be her happy ending, I will NOT be happy. That is NOT a happy ending. She deserves to live a long and happy actual LIFE!

See, that's the thing... I don't see them jumping ahead all of those years without Elena seeing Bonnie, Stefan and Matt again (as they'd all pretty much dead or close to dead). And honestly, I don't see how that's all of the cure since it was just ONE VIAL. I dunno, we'll see. But I'm sure the writers have something else planned. I just can't see that kind of ending as it's not very happy.

I don't know what they're going to do with Caroline, but unless she becomes human too--and if it takes just a vial of Elena's blood, she could turn Damon and Caroline human then--I can still see The Originals rewriting the endgame of S/C and bringing Caroline to TO if Candice is willing. But I still think that there's a good chance Caroline will turn human somehow, not so much because of Stefan, but more because of her kids.

Heh, now that you say it, yeah... but I honestly never thought about it, LOL!
