Loved your recap.

Thank you. :)

You're comment about Elena definitively going to heaven reminded me of one of the delena-songs, in ep 18 of season 2 'Last kiss', where the singer sings about his love gone to heaven and he has to be good now so he can join her in heaven when he dies. It's all about redemption and still fits perfectly to the s8 arc of Damon, because even when he becomes human again thanks to the cure, he still has to redeem himself to be able to be with Elena forever, i.e. even after death.

Ooh, that's a good point! Yeah, that's why I think redemption has to happen because I can't see the show saying, hey, Damon (and Stefan) are going to roast in hell for all eternity. There's your happy ending!

I was also wondering about Bonnie's reaction to the tuning fork. Why did she loose her witch powers again? Was it because of the medication or her short hunter-episode that overrode her witchy-ness? If a) than maybe the medication is finally out of her system now, if b) maybe she just hasn't tried doing magic ever since, but was actually able to do it since after she ceased being the huntress? Did we actually see her try and do magic but fail in s8 yet?

No, the medication pretty much shorted her powers for good. She hasn't tried to magic this season because in the season 07 finale, one of the diary entries to Elena in the end said that three months had passed and Bonnie's magic was gone.

When we first got to meet Cade and heard about his sad story I felt so very sorry for him and ever since I couldn't but defend him because I just felt so miserable for him. But his comment in this ep that 'he loves the good ones best' just shows what a really bad guy he has become. I was really shocked as this has nothing to do with justice and punishing the bad souls for their bad deeds anymore. This is just pure evil. He seems to really enjoy himself and his self-proclaimed job of killing the 'bad' guys too much now, and is way past his revenge on the cruelty of the villagers and the world he's been living in. Because I think that's what he started out as: wanting to make the world better by getting rid of the bad guys, thereby defending the good people and maybe even preventing what happened to him from it happening to others, too.

I never thought of it that way, but I really like your take on it, and I agree that whatever happens to Cade... well, he's pure evil now and needs to be brought down!

I'd personally love if our brothers Salvatore 'defeated' the devil and got him to release them from their deal - because I'm pretty sure Cade won't allow them to go once the brothers have served him for a year - by redeeming the devil himself. I just want Cade to return to his good self so much. And maybe they could even find a way to redeem the rest of those poor souls in hell, too, thereby "saving" Tyler, Georgie, maybe even Katherine? But I guess that will never happen especially since some people who are in hell surely do deserve to be there.

Aww, that's a beautiful idea. I do wonder how they're going to bring this all about. Alas, I don't think a happy ending is in the cards for everyone else, especially Cade. We'll see though.

The twins syphoning Elena is a really good idea, but wouldn't they like syphon everything magic from her, not only the curse but also the cure? Can they control what they take away and what not?

The cure is literally in her blood, so I don't think that would happen. I think they have to touch the actual magic on the person. Every bit of siphoning we've seen, they (Kai, the Heretics) have laid their hands on whatever they are siphoning. Unless, they ripped open Elena's skin and had the twins touch her blood (and eww! what a gross mental picture), I don't see how they'd reach her blood. Plus, yeah, I think they can stop and only siphon a certain amount of magic.
