Like many, it was their interaction in "Debate 109," for me specifically the 'Annie lets her hair down' scene.
2. What I think their challenge is:
On the show, the fact that Annie is still a bit too young, and Jeff is too much of a playboy. In actuality, the writing and lame-ass-ness of Dan Harmon, and how he approaches "shipping" and the absurdity.
3. What makes me happy about them:
When they're good, they are REALLY good.
4. What makes me sad about them:
They are so rarely good anymore. :(
5. What moment I wish had never happened:
Oh, lord, so many to count, I can't even ....
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
No one, cuz I'm a shipper like that!
7. My happily ever after for them:
Annie grows up a bit more, Jeff opens his heart to romance, and they live happily ever after.
Betty/Daniel
1. When or if I started shipping them:
Pretty much from the final scene in the first episode.
2. What I think their challenge is:
Daniel was too shallow, and Betty didn't have enough confidence, and both of those challenges were overcome by the end of the series.
3. What makes me happy about them:
They were funny, sweet, and so completely there for one another so beautifully.
4. What makes me sad about them:
That it took FOREVER for Daniel to realize how he felt about Betty, and that we never actually got to see their love story reach its conclusion on screen.
5. What moment I wish had never happened:
Oh, lordy, I'm gonna go with the whole debacle of whatshername, Molly, his wife.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
NO ONE! THEY BELONG TOGETHER!!
7. My happily ever after for them:
We were heading there in the finale, Daniel making his own way in London with Betty realizing her dreams as well, and the two living these new adventures together and in love. :)
It occurs to me that I asked these two ships that I might have had a hard time answering myself, especially when I started shipping them. Because both of them sort of crept up on me, at least with J/A I can point to some moments that pushed it along substantially, but B/D was just like...I don't know, I just know eventually I did and really couldn't imagine them not being together in the end. At least we got hints that they will get to live happily ever after together.
I generally ship pretty quickly, which is why when I don't like the 'lead' ship soon enough, I know they ain't ever getting me. And Jeff/Annie wasn't the lead ship, so it took seeing them in an even remotely romantic situation for me to see them in that light. Daniel/Betty just seemed like it HAD to happen.
*Sigh* Every time I see this icon of yours, I mourn what could/should have been.
