Heh. Yeah, they singlehandedly ruined "The Justice League Reformation" (or whatever it was called) two weeks ago -- which had been freaking hysterical before then. I think BBT works as straight comedy, but trying to get all arc-y and introducing a "serious" "love story" does not play to its strengths. Look at how Bernadette and Amy Farrah Fowler have been played: laughs, not sentiment. The most genuine sentiment on the show has come from friendships and Sheldon and his mom.
Long story short...ITA with your argument here. ;p
Well, I think that there's been some sweet and real genuine sentiment with Howard and Bernadette, but they've actually written their story (even as little as they've written it) well. We've seen actual real conversations between them, they've given us reasons to understand why they're together. And Amy Farrah Fowler (my God, I love her name!) isn't really a romantic interest at all. But she has turned out to be surprisingly awesome.
But, yeah, L/P ruined TJLR, and the hilarious episode a few episodes before that (the girls' slumber party).
GOOD GOD YES! If the show continues to try and make them romantic, I'm gonna go insane!
If I wasn't so in love with everything else about the show, I'd stop watching. My sister got me the S3 DVDs for Christmas, and it's so sad, because most of the box art, and inserts are SOOO L/P heavy, it's like they simply DO NOT GET IT! And, yes, those two dating in real life (for two years, they broke up early this year, I think) may be why. Perhaps they were cute in real life and the people involved with the show see them instead of how horrific Leonard and Penny are. I dunno.
Kaley Cuoco revealed it in CBS' Watch magazine cover story a few months ago.
Exactly. And I think that bringing Bernadette and Amy Farrah Fowler into the mix has turned out splendidly, but, GAH!, how I hate the L/P pushing. Grrr.

I can't stand when the writers feel the need to push them together, they just don't work at all.
Oh. My. God. SO MUCH YES!!!
