So, I'm on my major Vampire Diaries kick still, of course, and doing what I usually do. Watching other film/tv that my faves (Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev) have done. Well, I just started American Mall with Nina (she sings!), and lo and behold, I see the name Neil Haskell in the credits and I'm like \0/ and it's just unexpectedly cool. And, uhm, yeah, I thought I'd share, LOL! I think the movie might actually be half-way decent because PJ Hogan co-wrote it and I love most of his stuff, so, yay!
ETA: And, yes, he dances in it. And sings a few lines. :D
Aww, that was unrealistically, totally teenish, adorable heartfelt fun. And I actually liked (really liked) all of the songs. Must see if there's a soundtrack anywhere available. Also, hah, among the principle dancers: Thayne Jasperson, Gev Manoukian and Mollee Gray. I thought that was awesome! I'm almost tempted to go back and watch all the dance numbers again to spot them. Almost. There's a great review
here that mostly highlighted all I felt. I disagree that the ending was bad, I liked it despite its ridiculousness, but I completely agree that it was Nina's kick-ass "Survivor" number midway through the film that got me going.
WOOHOO! Got the CD for four bucks off of Amazon. I'm fighting myself to NOT BUY THE MOVIE (for four bucks also!) as well. Gah! So adorable! I lost the fight.
Hmm, was doing more reading on this, and Nina did sing, but her voice was blended with Keely Hawkes for notes she couldn't hit. That actually makes a lot of sense, because the lower register notes sound like Nina, while the higher stuff doesn't. (I prefer the lower notes, LOL!)
