I really loved the episode of The Big Bang Theory, but I still don't have a ship for the show. So I wasn't all upset by any shippy scenes or lack thereof.

in the laundry room when Penny began to explain shields by using a Star Trek metaphor and then she stopped and looked away, her expression so agog

I laughed so hard at that. Her expression was hilarious.

Kaley Cuoco isn't my type at all, but I agree that she's way hotter and prettier than Alicia.

Speaking of Alicia, you know it was really annoying when she was saying Penny was just like her because Penny NEVER uses the guys the way Alicia was, not even in the beginning. So I really liked how the show very simply showed (and not told) that Penny truly cares for the guys and isn't just using them. Good job.Yeah, I loved that. That was one of the things I said in my post about the episode, but you described it much more coherently than me. I was all over the place... When I saw commercials for the show, I was horrified because I was sure it was going to be some pretty girl using ( ... )

Yeah, I loved how they did the Penny/Alicia thing. Oh, how can you not see the awesome Parsons/Cuoco chemistry? I adore them!! They are my new squee couple with (::sobbsob::) Doctor/Rose locked away in an alternate universe. Ah well, I know, tastes vary. (But we have SO many other couples in common!!!)
I think I have to use VM to explain my philosophy on this. I don't know if Rob ever intended to put Logan and Veronica together (he might have, I don't know. But I'm pretty sure he didn't plan on them being the main couple), but the reason they were the endgame is because they were by far the most popular ship on the show (it doesn't hurt that Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring have amazing chemistry). So, basically, I think that The Big Bang Theory writers probably originally planned to have L&P be the endgame but, from what I've seen in my very short time in the fandom there seems to be way more S&P shippers than L&P shippers. So I think that the writers will probably go for what the majority of the fans want, you know? A lot of ( ... )

I think most of the people I know who watch the show are Sheldon/Penny shippers. I just don't see the appeal.

We do have a lot of other ships in common.

Yeah, Rob said on the DVDs that they were the main ship of the show and (I hadn't heard that about Kristen, but he may have just been avoiding that topic) at some point, they would have ended up together. Just not on the show because it got canceled. But, yeah, he said that LoVe was endgame.

Oh, yeah, it was obvious by the s3 arc BEING the Logan/Veronica story that Rob had finally accepted that LoVe were it. Bell just never went onboard with that. Ugh. Yeah, I'm sure RT avoids the Bell topic whenever humanly possible.

Oh, I'm so glad you're enjoying it!! Do come back when you're caught up (shouldn't take long with the length of the episodes) and let me know what you think. Oh, I hope you ship Sheldon and Penny!!!!

Quite frankly it's taking way to short of a time concidering my course load ;)

And I kind of vaguely ship Sheldon/Penny... in that I love Sheldon with a fiery burning passion (um....) and quite like their dynamic. I'm just not usually a shipper at all when I watch shows *shrugs*

Ooh! This is actually promising because that's exactly where I was during season one. It didn't hit me until early season two, so there's hope for you yet, even if you don't normally swing that way.

Hee! Hitchhiker's guide ...

Most loved this episode and their interactions, not me.

Yeah, I could have easily read that episode either way. If I'm a shipper coming in, I can, maybe, try and discern something shippy in Penny/Sheldon interactions. But objectively speaking, I didn't think it had that vibe. Not like in the previous episodes. It was all too broadly focused on the whole "Penny's envious" thing, and had squat to do with Sheldon. Or that's how it felt to me, anyway.

I'm also with you on the "dead hooker #2" not being all that pretty. There's this notion that if a girl is blond and slim, she is beautiful. But that one just wasn't. Also pretty charmless.

OMG! Raj's "So I can take them both out with a number two pencil?" BWAH HAH!!!!

Funniest line of the episode.

Question as a non-shipper, did it come across that Penny was specifically jealous of Alicia's interaction with Leonard, or the guys (minus Sheldon) as a whole? I didn't get any Leonard-specific vibe (other than the printer thing, but that was a specific point and would have made as much sense coming from Howard ... except, you know, that Howard totally skeeves Penny out, understandably.) Leonard/Penny shippers (the few out there, and there really are only a few) are all thrilled because Penny was so jealous of Alicia because of her feelings for Leonard. Did my S&P shipper bias completely blind me to that?

Thank you. I thought so in the brief promo, but didn't want to judge the actress on just that, but no, she was awful overall. Bad casting there.

I don't think so. I might not have gotten significant S&P vibes this episode (and I have seen them in previous eps, to be sure), but I certainly didn't see any hints of Leonard/Penny. I took the whole jealousy thing to be directed at the situation rather than any guy in particular. Penny is used to being the female center of their world -- theirs, not just Leonard's. And she was also genuinely insulted by the blatant use of the guys by Alicia. But I honestly and truly did not think there was anything there that even remotely hinted at her having any kind of feelings for Leonard. :)

Bad casting there.

Especially so that it inadvertently made the guys look like complete idiots led entirely by their d***s. Like it didn't matter that the girl was nothing special. She was blond and skinny and that's all it took. Blah.
