In S2, Lisa really just wanted one perfect score because Drew and Stacey were getting them constantly and Lisa/Louis kept JUST falling short
Interesting...I always liked Lisa, but I found that to be a bit delusional on her part -- if Drew and Stacy were the standard bearers, she was clearly never going to reach that level. But now I wonder if it wasn't some producer interference, since the story was that Stacy never had the voter support -- that the judges kept her in it. A higher score, plus Lisa's votes (if they were ranked as ordinals in S2) might've sent Stacy home, and the producers would've lost their Drew/Stacy showdown. Which...they didn't get anyway, so it was kind of a moot point. Still...I wouldn't put it past them. They propped Stacy up a lot that year.
The encore tonight (and I still think that they should have got it last week)
I had no qualms about Joey getting it last week, but he did NOT deserve it for that stupid "Star Wars" tango. :x I also thought Joey did himself no favors by appearing with Kimmel -- although I guess voters have probably already made a decision about whether they love/hate the ham (and you know where I stand ;)
See, I didn't think it was delusional at all. They do and have given 30s to couples who do a really good job, and the fact that they were getting 28s and 29s regularly at that point, it was a perfectly reasonable expectation. And that they didn't give it to her was just so very sad.
I hadn't heard that about Stacy, but honestly doesn't surprise me at all. I really honestly think -- based on talent -- that it should have been a Drew/Lisa finale with Drew taking it home. The fact that Jerry and Stacy -- who mostly just extended her legs, twirled and looked sexy the last few weeks -- outlasted her was just frickin' wrong. Lisa fans were calling foul at the constant Stacy propping, but we were told that we were just smelling a conspiracy. Hahh!
Yeah, I guess Joey deserved it last week, but I still think A/J did better than Joey/Kym that week. And I DO think they deserved it for the SW tango though. I LOVED that, but I am a SW geek, so ....
I'll probably look for A/J pics this weekend. For now it's still the dancing cucumber.
I just downloaded S2 and am rewatching the Lisa/Louis stuff (saving their routines, and the Cheryl/Drew routines I liked also) and I have to make a correction. Lisa wasn't even wanting a perfect score of 30, she just wanted ONE 10! Just one!!! And watching her final routines and the judges' comments again, I remembered my ire anew. Len and Bruno really praised her with no negative, and everyone knew she couldn't beat the judges' fave Stacy and audience fave Jerry and the judges'/audience fave Drew, so she was going home the next night and they couldn't give her ONE FRICKIN' TEN!?!?! That's all she wanted was one frickin' ten. Poor Lisa.
Also, of interest, I think that Julianne/Apolo and Laila/Maks were much better starting out than Drew/Cheryl, which really surprised me because I remember D/C as being the standouts from the beginning of any season. DwtS REALLY lucked out with not one, not two, but three (I'll include Joey for pure technique) celebs who started out dancing strong from the beginning.
