Yultide recs! Shockingly my 1st ever.
Yah, yah yah. It's almost midnight on NY eve, so no one is around to look at this, but maybe someone will want tomorrow afternoon while they're having a lazy hangover NY recovery day? Here are all my Yultide recs! They're pretty much what you'd expect me to be into, but, well. Here they are, as organized as possible:
ANGST
Casualty Report -- Lord of the Flies. I'm gonna say this was my absolute fave fic this year. It's painful as all hell to read, but so tightly written & moving...LOVE.
Stealing Bones The Fall. This isn't *actually* super angsty, but, like...everything about the movie is so. Set directly after the film's conclusion. Roy weaves another story to answer Alexandria's next question.
Fathers and Sons -- Wuthering Heights. OK, let's be honest: I've never read the book & I wouldn't have a clue about the plotline except for, ya know, TOM HARDY, I hadta watch. BUT! This was def the relationship that intrigued me the most, so I clicked the link when I saw it -- & was not disappointed.

Status: Surviving -- Walking Dead. Glenn-fic. And since I love Glenn, I love the introspective, quiet nature of this.
Where They Shout Allegiance - Walking Dead. Rick/Shane ultimately, but this is really the missing chunk of time where Shane rescued Rick's family. Hurty in a good, good way. Love this pairing!
You're Ready And You're Willin' -- Scooby Doo. The zombies get Shaggy first. I adore the thought put into how the team members would deal, here.
Nostalgia
Snow Bunnies -- Who Framed Roger Rabbit? This is SO. CUTE. OMG. How Jessica & Roger met. :333
Ramona's Law of Reciprocal Actions -- Ramona Quimby. Maybe it's because I'm watching the movie, but. GAH, this is so perfectly her (but, ya know, seventeen). Love every bit.

Take Two Goes Much Better, Just FYI -- Haven. Audrey/Nathan/Duke. Is there really any other point to the show but getting the three of them to this? UNF. (with apparent bonus!backstory here: Cold Light. The author really got their voices spot on, though, and the porn is smoking hot.
History Repeats -- Fight Club. This isn't *exactly* porn, but there is a slash relationship & some deets. Tyler was real to Angelface -- Jack lets him have half of that back. Such a cool thought, love that someone revisited the aftermath.
Past the places where you might have turned -- The Town. Jem/OMC, prison!fic. He loves Dougie most, but there have to be ways to pass the time; others to fill the void. This is so painful, knowing the way the story concludes. I just. WHATEVER, I LOVE MY BOSTON BOYS, OK? This is fab.

Gingerbread Betrayal -- Hansel & Gretel. Being thrown out into the cold & left to a witch isn't something Gretel can easily forgive. This is so something I never really thought about, but the aftermath of the story -- yes. It would be this painful.
A New Dawn -- Sleeping Beauty. This could almost go under apoco-fic, but I read it as WWII (pretty much cuz I LOVE all things 40s). She awakens with a bang & he's not necessarily a prince, but he's her hero.

automated daydreaming -- Troy/Abed. So maybe I just haven't wandered through Comm fandom enough, but there were SO MANY amaxzing fics. This one, hands down, has the quickest, wittiest dialogue. SO in character, so fun to read. Egg!babies, ok? EGG. BABIES.
pretty cool -- Troy/Abed. All of these are. THIS one is so presh in that they're working on a project together & run off into all these tangents and...yes. So them. And Batman/Superman! <33333
History of Film -- Troy/Abed. Again, the self-awareness of the show lends itself so well to this fic's structure. Cliches in film (& love!).

The Art of Fugue & everything in its right place -- Astrid fic. The first is our Astrid -- and a lovely character exploration of how she loves Walter & the others. The second is the flip-side of the coin: cool, calculating Astrid of the alt!verse -- and how she still knows her people better than anyone. I just love these both to pieces, she's such a cool, under-appreciated character that these were a huge treat.

All About Me -- Friday Night Lights. Jess and football and her love of it and OH MY HEART <3___<3
Incidences -- Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Tom Hardy. Whatever. I just want fluffiness about hot boys here, ok? OK, go read.
our Couch, Your Quilt and Your Wife (I Love Them All) -- kRIS/cALE/kATY in that same ~rational vein: HEARTEYES FOR DAYS. Omg, I wanted this fic to exist for ages & i STILL haven't really finished it b/c I wanna cherish every single word. READING SO SLOOOOOW.
I also started to think about what I'd request if I ever signed up & came up with: Candyland backstory fic (alt to what came on the box, of course!); Roman Holiday photog POV; & Arthur vs Barney over a tailor. Maybe bonus Robin & Arthur gun!porn discussion thrown in. And Butters/Kenny, of course.
