Bill always left a light on, to guide her back through the darkness.
His eyes were closed.
Her Admiral was pressed up against the back wall to give her extra room.
So sweet.
She loved him, trusted him and believed in him. He’d worked his way into her heart so slowly; she didn’t even realize he was doing it.
So sly.
“Laura, something wrong?” His deep voice rumbled.
She slipped under the covers and snuggled back against him. He folded her up tightly in his arms.
She hummed softly. “No Bill, something’s right.”
