Oh, that was incredibly sweet and heartwarming...Bill getting that smile was beautiful. A lovely prelude to the sadness of NC, with everyone so hopeful. I can see Laura moving into that role so easily.
Space!Mommy and Fleet!Daddy of course become the surrogate grandparents to the fleet. I like how you connected her to them. It's not forced at all and I just know that if you put a baby near Bill he's gonna love on it and of course their gonna smile!!!
You're getting the hang of this drabble thing I think!
First drabble: took 4 months and you rewrote half of it Second: Took 5 days and you rewrote 1/3 of it Third: Wrote and posted same day, you rewrote...I don't remember but not that much of it This one: Took a couple hours, you rewrote one or two sentences
Do I detect a trend? XOXOXO thanks for showing me the light! Also, this is the first drabble I've written that didn't have Bill telling Laura he loved her in an early draft! LOL.
I may be violating my self-imposed rule about drunk LJing. Sorry.
Thanks dear! ♥♥♥ I really do appreciate the encouragement. It doesn't come easily to me at all, but it has been fun playing in this sandbox anyway thanks to lovely people such as yourself.
Thanks rococo! I think Laura would have continued to take an interest in the people who surrounded her on Colonial One during her first administration. And from the narrator's perspective, Laura and Bill are totally fulfilling parental-type duties (coming with her to her doctor's appointments, bringing her and baby home from the hospital). Space!parents by necessity become space!grandparents once those crazy kids in the Fleet finally get to it and start making babies!

An empirical examination of the process:
First drabble: took 4 months and you rewrote half of it
Second: Took 5 days and you rewrote 1/3 of it
Third: Wrote and posted same day, you rewrote...I don't remember but not that much of it
This one: Took a couple hours, you rewrote one or two sentences
