Thanks for the sweet comments!! I like that line too. I'm sure it's been said in a few ways before, but it never gets old. Poor Bill and all the emotions he pushed aside to help Laura fulfull her destiny. He was torn, but always supported her right to the end.
“Whatever happens, you must continue.” He took her hand in his and fought the impulse to pray.
This is just beautiful. I love how she knows exactly what he's thinking. And it reminds me of one of my favorite moments, from Faith ("You. You made me believe.")
Thanks lack!! Lucky that line just hit me and it became the perfect ending for this scene. I think Laura could read him pretty well by this time and Bill struggling with so many thoughts, but he pushes it all aside to support her. Faith is such a great moment, so I'm thrilled that it reminded you of that scene. :)
Following up on Lack's comment, this drabble made me realize that although Bill didn't vocalize it until Faith, he did believe in something all along, even if he didn't quite know what it was. The whole pursuit of Earth was an exercise in faith.
Thanks frak!! I agree. Bill did a lot of things that showed his faith, even though he denied it. Following Laura to Kobol when he could have just abandoned her, but off he went searching for her tomb. And really after seeing that whole thing with the arrow, it must have convinced him something was out there!! He just needed to find it!!
love this idea!! Bill already realizes that he has placed his faith in her, but in doing so he makes a subtle acknowledge meant of fate of the gods or something else he would never have believed in.
