A taste of honey is worse than none at all so they say and this little spell of co-habitation has certainly whet their appetites for more, showed them what they have been missing because of their concerns about objectivity and public perception - legitimate issue to consider perhaps but frustrating nonetheless.
So typical that at this key moment in their relationship they still dance around what they really want to say, with Bill having to read between the lines to try and work out what Laura really wants. Is she trying to let him down gently with her 'wrong idea' remark because he's got too close? Surely not because although she's leaving she's making very sure he knows where she will be from now on. Does she mention his sleeping on the couch because she wishes he hadn't, that they had made the most of sharing these quarters while they still could? The flicker in her eyes certainly suggests she's going to miss more than his books.
Thank goodness he took a chance on that little flash of 'something'. She might be leaving his quarters but clearly Laura wants to hold on to him.
Their whole 'living together' thing just gets to me. I can't believe that they wouldn't have admitted to themselves that they must have had more there than a working relationship. I often probably think they settled and told themselves they were just good friends. But there is the RS2 kiss that makes me think they must have thought about more with each other. See, I'm still talking in circles and obsessing about the whole thing! *sigh*
