Ideas and Thoughts
So I went to Yesterdog for the 1st time yesterday. It was great. In case you don't know, Yesterdog is a hot dog place in East Grand Rapids.
In fact, Yesterdog was featured in American Pie. Hell, American Pie was based off of East GR. The writer of the movie lived and grew up in East GR. If you really think about it, Grand Rapids alone is has had a lot of popular people come from here.
Here let's explore that idea. First off, I am not sure if any of you have heard of Ditty Moore (yes that is he's real name) but he is a writer from Grand Rapids. And if we want to "stretch" this idea...Bob Tarte (who also is a writer) is from Lowell, which is right down the road from GR.
Another thing, the writer of the Polar Express is from Grand Rapids. If any of you have seen the movie, the little boy goes "That's where I am from" when the one elf says something about Grand Rapids, Michigan. They made a big deal about this movie coming out in Grand Rapids last year, so I have been told. I don't really pay that much attention.
How about the number of colleges in the Grand Rapids area alone. There is Aquinas (of course), Grand valley (they have a campus down town), Calivn, Corner Stone, Reformed Bible College, GRCC (Grand Rapids Community College), and Davenport. That is 7 colleges! Know wonder Grand Rapids is the 2nd largest city in Michigan.
Well Warren is the 3rd largest city. The only college we have is Macomb Community College. And of course, Detroit is the largest city yet in Michigan. This is my question then...if Warren is the 3rd largest city in the state of Michigan...then how come NO ONE knows where its at when I tell them where I am from?! Its the weirdest thing ever. I have to say Detroit area. Dumb asses.
By the way...Warren has some famous "stars." Lets look into that...well there is Eminem. He went to Lincoln High School. Plus the movie 8 mile was made in Warren. Actually South Warren lol. Then Major Mark Steamberg is from Warren. He graduated from Lincoln too. All you Fitz people...don't worry! I have a feeling that someone is going to go out there and make a name for themselves. Then we can really be proud! Well I am out, peace!
