What a week it's been.

I've never been this busy so far this year. I got up and went to class on Monday, and after class at 2:30pm started working on a programming assignment. I didn't stop except for a quick supper until I finished at about 2:30am. Then I was back at school for a 10:00 class and was there until 10pm because I have class all day plus night class. I managed to finish a CS lab between classes and started studying for my physics midterm which was tonight. Then Wednesday I finished at 2:30 and studied most of the afternoon and evening. Today, Thursday, I had class all morning, then a meeting, and then about an hour to prepare for my lab. Of course I forgot my lab manual today so I couldn't do any preparation, the one time they "strongly" recommended working out all the equations beforehand. I managed to get done most of it anyway. Then two hours to grab supper and study what I could until the midterm. I felt really unprepared for it even though I had been studying for the last two and a half days in pretty much all my spare time. I understood the concepts more or less, and we get a formula sheet so I didn't have to memorize all the equations, but I felt pretty shaky on some of the different types of problems they might ask. But I think I did pretty darn well in the end! I think I got one multiple choice wrong which I was going to but *just* finished the rest before time ran out. Then there were a few medium-length questions which I felt pretty confident about, then 3 long, multiple part problems. The first one was ok. The second was alright. But I thought I had screwed up the third one and was rushing to finish on time. I had to derive an equation for the coefficient of static friction. I thought there was no way it was right but I needed it for the next part of the problem so I guessed. I looked in my book afterward and I actually got it right! So I think that should be at least an 80! Now I just have to get up early tomorrow and go do a stats assignment in the lab before class and the week will be done. Then there're more projects to get started on....

Oh well, I'm enjoying it for the most part; the work load just gets a bit heavy at times. I really like what I'm learning and all that (except English.. but that's another story. My prof spent half a lecture (3 hour lecture, that is) on how the author this one play is gay and so that must mean his character is too, even though there is no evidence in the text to support that claim. And how any decision made by someone who is oppressed makes them a 'hero', be it murdering your oppressor, abandoning your family to beg in the streets for selfish reasons, or cursing everyone you meet.)

But only 2 and a half weeks of class left before finals. Oddly enough, I have another 2 "midterms" in that time. I'm done on the 15th this year, so I get to go home early! That ought to be better than leaving on the 22nd, flown to the wrong city, flown up and then down again in a faulty plane, and then taxied home and arriving on the 23rd, about 12 hours late :)

And then, on the 27th I'll be embarking on a trip to Vancouver! CCO's national christmas conference, RiseUp, is there this year, and about 40 of us from Saskatoon are bussing out there! It's gonna be great. The trip there, four nights in a 4.5 star hotel, meals, conference fee, and a huge fancy New Year's banquet, for just over $400! I'll be getting back on the 2nd of January. Can't wait!!
