New York Public Library
10th St. Branch between 50th and 51st.
Finally I am somewhere that doesn't make me pay. For books, for internet, for the ability to keep cool. I'm a proud holder of a library card, and at 21 years of age, nothing has felt better. I can take out up to 30 books and even dvds and cds. I might have an orgasm on the spot!.
I am liking living here, but someone was right when they said it is the loneliest city in the world. I am surrounded by 6 million people or so. At any given time I am inches away from human bodies but without any sort of emotional connection. Once in a while I get a smile or nod and today I helped the sweetest old lady figure out how to close her windows on her computer! Kudos to her for trying out this new technology!
This weekend is a lot of waitressing but hopefully I'll make enough money to cover August's rent so I can dream easy and actually go out and buy an alcoholic drink! (The most expensive thing of all here.)
I don't mean to burn bridges, but apparently I have done so with a couple of people. If anyone knows how to build a bridge, I'm all ears. If it could be made of steel, that would be preferable.
