I understand what you are saying and I also think we are actually coming from the same place. in a way NHL is merging those 2 styles and I fully understand why both sides would be unhappy with it. and now I also understand why Marcus came across so strongly, being it personal for you ( ... )

I think you bring up a good point regarding Marcus' immaturity, and I'm glad that came through. His opinion is mine, in a lot of ways, but of course mine is tempered by other considerations and his is not. But he's not just speaking as a fan, he may yet be an amateur player, but one who intends to be a professional. And at that point in his career I have envisioned him already playing World Junior Championships, so he would have some experience with the Europeans ( ... )

one more comment and I stop, OK? though I really enjoy the conversation, being that as I said I used to be a hockey fan once upon a time ;)

And at that point in his career I have envisioned him already playing World Junior Championships, so he would have some experience with the Europeans.See, but that is exactly the point I was trying to make. even playing with an European team is still just him looking in from the outside. but it is very human. it makes him very to connect to. I think my reaction is what his is just from teh "other side of the fence ( ... )

I can imagine that a Canadian coach wouldn't work over there, the style of play/coaching would just be too different. Silly of them to expect big things, with that kind of divide.

Don Cherry is a very well known name in Canadian hockey, as a coach and commentator on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) here. You can find him on youtube, although he'd probably just piss you off...he's a bit brash and outspoken, and for those who don't understand his perspective, he can come off as an ass, too. ;)

I know the American rinks are smaller and I know players have problems sometimes at the World Championships because of that - Europeans in America an Americans in EuropeI totally agree with this statement except it's Canadian, not American. lol Not the same thing at all. ;) Well, America has a lot of small rinks too, especially the NHL rinks, but I'm speaking from a Canadian perspective, and we are not the same as Americans at all. :P ( ... )
