Shortland Street plot moving at the speed of light
OK, there were some filler episodes first.
Episode 6502 Thursday 5th March
Zara's impressed by Maeve's efficiency. Shereez is also impressed when she sees Maeve give a patient with a sprained ankle options - wait around forever or go see his GP. Predictably Shereez tries the same thing with terrible results.
Meanwhile Nicole is catching on that Leanne is spying on the hospital and in particular Zara for Chris while he's off visiting vineyards, which means lots of great facepulling by Nicole.
Zara is upset at the repercussions of Shereez's protocol breach, Maeve gets angry at Leanne pointing fingers.
Episode 6503 Friday 6th March
Maeve apologises to Leanne calling her "an essential cog" and generally buttering her up.
She compliments Nicole in there too, but Nicole is too busy twitching at her mother's hypocrisy to notice.
Episode 6505 Tuesday 10th March
Harper, Nicole and Maeve arrive at Harper's place, and discover a huge new fancy TV in the living room. Drew and Harper argue over the price ($12,000) which Maeve treats as a spectator sport (Nicole: They can go like this for hours). Drew brings Boyd in for moral support, Harper is adamant the TV is going back. They give Maeve a tour of the house and she brings up the exes as friends thing again,
Harper asks if she means Harper/Nicole, Harper/Boyd, Nicole/Boyd, or Drew/Boyd, Drew is quick to deny the last one because no homo. The women head out somewhere, Drew predictably breaks that expensive TV in the next 5 minutes.

Episode 6506 Wednesday 11th March
Harper, Nicole and Maeve eating at the IV, Harper is hassling them for not eating full meals, they both say they're saving money - to buy houses which is pretty much impossible in the Ferndale housing market. Harper kisses Nicole on the forehead as she heads off to pay the joint bill,
the other two commiserate about not getting doctors pay cheques, and Maeve invites Nicole out to have a good time on the cheap.
At the central city Myers Park playground they clamber around and share backstories - mostly Nicole's. Maeve does share that because her ex has the house that's the best place for their son, which is why she wants a place of her own.
How soon do we give it before these two are pooling their money and buying a house? Within the week?
When it starts to rain they head to an op shop, where they dress up and take selfies.
Eventually Maeve admits she isn't just trying to be friends, she thinks Nicole is cute and hot.
Nicole says she has a deal with herself - no randoms, the next person she falls for will be the one, and she implies Maeve isn't it. Maeve not surprisingly says she has to go, that they are fine, and will be fine at work, but she has to go.
But later, when Nicole is at home (home still presumably being the couch at Leanne's friend Barb's, which looks suspiciously like one of the hospital apartments) Maeve knocks on the door.
Nicole asks if Maeve changed her mind about the coffee, Maeve who is right up in Nicole's space says Nicole is afraid, but that's love.
Nicole: You've only just met me. (Yep, you're right about that Nicole, but let's face it, that's never stopped you before)
Maeve: No, I've seen enough, Nic, I'm in, I'm all in. If you want it.
Nicole: I had the best day with you...
Maeve: You want stable, rock solid, well here I am. I don't want a random either, I don't want to party or stuff around, I just ... I just want you. That's all I had to say, I'll see you tomorrow.
She goes to leave and Nicole grabs her hands and says wait.
Maeve: I'm not going there unless you want it.
Nicole: I want it.
They kiss, but after a minute Nicole starts to clutch her stomach and says she can't breathe.
End credit.
I wondered for a minute if it was Marty's mystery flu hitting (gee thanks for giving the world Corona virus, Shortie writers) but it looks like it's panic attacks arising again, no fair anxiety!
