This week I tuned into Shortland St (it's been a while) to find Nicole might have a girlfriend again; so I went and watched the last two weeks of episodes On Demand. Luckily story moves so fast on Shortland St that that was less than I needed.
What we've missed since my last recap!
Nicole and Vinnie worked out their differences somewhat after the thing with Ruby, but eventually Vinnie left to support his son in Singapore and decided to stay there, Nicole wouldn't relocate so they broke up.
(The actor who played Vinnie has since died -

Nicole slept with new doctor Lincoln and found herself pregnant, he meanwhile had started a relationship with relationship with Jack, they wanted a family so Nicole said she'd have the baby and give it to them to raise. But the baby was premature and died.

Zara went on a date with drippy as ever Boyd, he failed to take her cue that she'd like to progress, so she ended up letting him down gently - a conversation that Nicole, freshly back from a trip to Samoa overheard.
And their talk about it afterwards suggested she'd discussed the trials of dating with Zara before?
Later Nicole's dodgy stepfather Damo tried to interest Zara in his even dodgier dating app, while Nicole looked on and made sarcastic (but fair) comments. But Zara does try using it. She and Nicole talk about the difficulty of impersonal online chatting. Nicole encourages her to pick someone and go on a date.
Nicole: You may have to kiss a lot of frogs.
Drew talks Boyd into trying again with Zara, so he invites her out again,
she says she already has a date that evening,
and as he leaves Nicole tells her not to worry about Boyd's feelings.
"You're beautiful, and you're intelligent, and your smile, it lights up the room. Your date is a lucky, lucky man."
Episode 6767 Tuesday 2nd July 2019
Zara goes on the date, with encouragement from her daughter Rana.
Everyone else goes to girl's night at Nicole's - including Dawn, Harper, Angel, Esther (not Nicole's mother Leanne, because she's off to a cosplay event at the RSA with Damo), and Zara soon shows up there too, the date was a fail.
During the talk at girl's night Zara is surprised to find out that Nicole is bisexual.
Attention hound Angel says she'd consider it, Dawn's trip through questioning also gets mentioned (how did I miss that?), and Harper and Nicole's relationship is brought up - leading to comparisons and much laughter.
Zara is looking at Nicole with new eyes.
Once the others have left Zara asks Nicole about Harper, about whether Nicole had known she liked girls and boys (yes), whether Harper had (she took a leap of faith). Zara says maybe she's like Harper, Nicole asks if she thinks she like girls, Zara says she doesn't know, she's never kissed one, Nicole quickly kisses her and asks if she felt anything?
Zara says yes and kisses her back.
