[Ami can be seen lounging somewhere in her bedroom, a pile of dog-eared books at her side, a cup of tea resting on top of it. She's sitting with her back propped up against her bed, knees brought to her chest and an open book spread across her lap. By the angle of the camera, her communicator is resting on the floor, looking up. Ami notices it ( Read more... )

[Well this certainly pinged this intellectual]

These are very good points.

I've heard of this "Earth" place once before, so I wonder if some of you are from different dimensional "Earths".

On Audrant, time worked twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty-eight days a month, thirteen months, and seven-hundred sixty-five days a year.

Here in this place, do you know the time-frames? How many days are in a month and a year? Or is it unknown and we're all defaulting on the majority?

That's exactly what I'd like to know. And what is the majority?

Wouldn't it be helpful if we all agreed on something so we're all on the same page?

[Don't even get her started on asking about Audrant. She stores that away for later.]

I agree. It seems that there are similar holidays from each world such as this...."Christmas" that I had kept hearing about.

What will signify the new year? What are the months here called? Was it silently agreed upon by people from similar dimensions?

Perhaps someone should just make an official calender of some sort.

Really? You have Christmas as well? [Ami was very curious.] That would imply that there is some off-shoot of Christianity there--or was, at one point, wouldn't it?

Creating a calendar would be quite the understanding, don't you think? Not that I'd be adverse to doing it. But most certainly a team would be required.

No. I don't have Christmas, though I've seen broadcasts about it or something about gift-giving.

...What is Christianity? Is it the reason for this holiday?

Yes. It doesn't have to be complex and if there is a wide majority, we could compare it to what we have now and just go with that. I'm not adverse in conforming to a new system as long as there is a system.

Though, that would be tricky in regards to birthdays.

What is the time like in your world?

So--your planet has Christmas, and you just don't celebrate it yourself? [That wasn't too odd.]

Christianity is the religion that celebrates Christmas. It originally started as a religious observation, though originally it was scheduled at the same time as the Winter Solstice.

In my world? [Looks up in thought.] Similar to yours, though our months and thus our years are considerably shorter. And the months have different amounts of days, sometimes.

No no. There's no such thing as this "Christmas" in my world. I've only heard about it when I arrived here.

I see. So a religious holiday.

Ah. What are those numbers, exactly?

[Oh so intrigued about this]

[Ami looks up in thought.] Approximately twenty-four hours to a day, seven days to a week, approximately four weeks to a month, give or take. We have 30 or 31 days each month, save for our second month in the year, which has twenty-eight, except for on the fourth year, in which it has twenty-nine, and...

[Ami pauses, suddenly realizing how...well, odd their way of keeping time was.] Eheh...three-hundred sixty-five days to a year, usually.

I see.

[He thinks about that.]

I wonder how this issue with time will effect the way we age. I wouldn't imagine that it would be any faster or slower than the way we're meant to, but who's to say that it would not effect the way we age.

According to Usagi-chan, we don't age here. [Of course, consider the source.]

[He nods, his thoughts are certainly running.]

My my. I can be my beautiful, middle-aged self forever.

[He smiles, obviously joking.]

But that is fascinating. The seasons change, the time changes, but it's as if we're frozen in our own state of time.

[He then pauses as if he had forgotten something.]

Terribly sorry, it seems I've forgotten to introduce myself. I'm Colonel Jade Curtiss of the Malkuth, Third Division of the Imperial Army.

[Ami blushes at Jade's response, and then nervously smiles.]

Eheh...congratulations on that...

[Upon his introduction, Ami gives a polite bow and a bashful smile.]

Ami Mizuno. A pleasure to meet you, Colonel Curtiss. I'm afraid I don't have quite the illustrious career you seem to have. I'm just a teenager, though...

It's nice to meet you as well, Miss Mizuno.

I've had a lot of time to accomplish what I've had. With an intelligent mind such as yours, I'm sure you'll also be able to accomplish a lot in due time.

[He's not a flatterer of any sort, which means what he says is absolutely genuine.]

And please, call me Jade. I'm not used to going by my family name.

[If she had a dime for every time she'd been talked to about her 'potential'--]

Thank you, Jade-san. [It was still a little difficult to say, especially with the knowledge of his station.]

I'm glad that I have been able to breech a subject that apparently hasn't been given much consideration here. I just hope it serves some sort of purpose.

[He doesn't understand the whole "-san" thing here, but he figures it's some foreign concept.]

I find that any bit of information can serve as some sort of purpose. This may very well be a gateway to further questions about the time continuum and dimensional structure of this world, which may aid further into the discovery of uncovering exactly how we got here and perhaps how to get out.

[Since he's new, he's really not too keen on staying.]

I may be forward in asking, but do you have any books or research that I may take a look at?

[He knows how personal research can get, so it's best to ask.]

[Ami's eyes widened, as did a smile to match. Finally! Someone who understood all the questions!]

Yes!! Yes, exactly!

[Forgive her, she's a little excited now.]

Research? On any particular subject? I tend to favor medical studies, but--
