My morning is made of fail.
When I woke up this morning I remembered that I had to pay my bills today. Usually an easy task. I go to turn my computer on . . . and nothing happens. I check the plug, check the socket, check that the battery has not magically become unseated. Nothing. Everything seems to be in perfect working order. Except that Glitch will not turn on and isn't even showing signs of turning on. After a good 5 minutes of panicking, I remembered that I had kept the laptop's booklet. I dragged it out, followed some of the troubleshooting instructions, and finally got Glitch to power up. In the process of trouble shooting the computer I realized that the battery isn't even remotely holding a charge anymore, which means that I've got to get a new one asap. *sigh* The Apple store nearest to me doesn't open until 10 am so I decided to look into taking care of my two tickets for my car.
Now I only have one question: I got one ticket in Glendale and one ticket in West LA, do I need to take care of them separately or can I do it in one trip? Sounds like a pretty straight forward question right? Right. So I go online to find the number for the LAPD. I know there's like fifty different departments in law enforcement and not all of them can help you so I try to find a specific one. I can only conclude that the Police don't really want you to call them because it took me twenty minutes and three different web pages to find one that I thought might be able to help me. No dice. But the lady at the other end found two more numbers that could work. The first one immediately rerouted me to message that said to call the second one. So I called the second one. After going though several menu options (none of them helpful) I finally get an option to ask for an operator. They're all busy. Cue much swearing and me hanging up.
By now it's ten o'clock and so I decide to call the Apple store to see about my battery. The line is busy but it doesn't take long for them to pick up my call. I explain the issue and ask the guy if there's any way I could get my battery exchanged or discounted. Guy tells me to come make an appointment with the tech guys and maybe they might be able to figure something out. As I'm talking to him I wander into the living room and absently look out the window . . . just in time to see the parking lady put a ticket on my car.
I just . . . can't win today.
