My 'new' boss seems to be very good at finding new ways to piss me off now a days.
Recently at my work I filled out what was called an availability form to let them know I will be free up for more holiday hours. I put my name, the date 12/07/08 and my hours. Then I put a little note at the bottom saying that this will start on 12/19/08 and that I am looking for 15-20 hours a week. Simple yes? Its how I always have done it in the past, and generally I have gotten along fine doing it this way even when she started working there.
I came into work today to check out my schedule. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I am generally unavailable until at least 7PM seeing as how I am at my college downtown from 8AM-5PM and not being able to get home until 5:35 PM. Again thus far I seemed to have gotten along just fine this way.
Well, it said that I was scheduled both those days from 12PM-5:30 and from 1PM-6:45PM... I was just kind of like.. "Well okay, I'm sure there must have been some oversight." So I wait patiently until the end of my shift to talk to her about this matter. I do get around to talking her and I say
Me:"Well you know I may have made a mistake on my availability form I said my hours would start soon-"
Boss: "Yeah the 19th"
Me: "Yeah, I can't work these hours seeing as how I'm at school all day from eight AM to five PM"
Boss: "But you put down the 7th as the date"
...wait what?
Me: "I think I remember making a note that I don't start until the 20th or so"
Boss: "No you put the 7th as the day you start your new availibility"
WHAT?!
Me: "Well, I can't be here during those times seeing as how I'm at college during the day..."
Now, I was hoping for her to help me out a little and maybe reschedule me for a later shift or on different days to make up for it like my old boss did... instead I get this-
Boss: "Well you're just going to have to find someone to take those shifts"
Me: "Are you serious?"
Boss: "Or you could come back and work what hours you can during that shift."
Me: "Well what if I can't find someone to take my shift?"
Boss: "Oh I'm sure you will there are people looking for hours."
Me: "Yeah but what if I can't?"
Boss: "You will."
And then nothing else was said...GEE THANKS A FUCKING LOT YOU'VE BEEN A WONDERFUL HELP. Basically I would have to find someone to take my shift or I would basically be S.O.L.
Fortunately there were two sweethearts who managed to work something out and take my hours. SO I FUCKING HOPE.
I have been very patient with this woman, she has screwed up with a few other employees and what really sets me off is that she is unwilling to admit to her mistakes and help them. Instead she finds ways to walk around it and completely ignore their problems. Now I would honestly like to see the sheet I filled out so I can take another look at it to see if I was indeed wrong, but she didn't offer to show me, and I'm pretty sure that she threw it out.
I am already stressed out enough seeing as how this week is my finals. I am not going to lose my job over some fucking oversight and her unwillingness to help me with my situation. I am pretty certain that it states in the union guidelines that college takes precedent over work.
If I get a call during the day saying that I have to come in well... I wouldn't know what to tell them. If there is an issue I am going straight to the fucking union as a couple others have done when she has screwed up. If I am wrong then I am wrong, I would again at least like to see the sheet I have filled out to make sure that I did it properly =/
