Summer Break!
Well I made it through perhaps what was one of the most stressful quarters of my time here. 4 animation classes at once...yikes, not fun! But all things considering, I think I did pretty well. An A, A-, B and a B-. Probably could have upped that B- if I did more with my final project but I had to prioritize. Ah well...
I'm probably going to do some much needed R+R aside from work. But I'll probably start getting things in order for my demo reel and fixing a couple projects that need it for blockhead/demo reel purposes.
I know some of you are still waiting on commissions and I really do apologize for taking so long...so to make up for that, I'm not going to charge anything. I'll finish them up and hand them over free of charge. I'll probably take more, but perhaps cut the list down to a more manageable number. I'll probably take them more frequently when I'm out of school and am relying on such for a bit of income.
In other, better news...
I got an internship at Allina Clinics (Which happens to be one of the largest health care providers in Minnesota) doing medical animation and illustration for patient education as well as some side projects they want me to work on. I can't say how grateful I am to my mother who pitched the idea to them in the first place as well as the woman I'm speaking with on the affair who has done so much to get everything set up and signed for me! I just hope I'm capable of producing the quality work that they're hoping of me.
The only wild factor is the possibility of an open ended nurses strike, and we're not really sure how that's going to affect the department I'm going to be working in...I certainly hope it doesn't and I hope they don't go through with it. But I'll have to talk to my academic director and see what he thinks of it...it's honestly a little too late to find a new one and i wouldn't want to throw this one away given the work that's been put into it and the potential doors it could open for me.
I'm also really excited to be attending a wedding of a dear friend I've made during my stay at the school. I've been to weddings before, mostly in the family but none where I can actually associate with people of my age and have the same general tastes. I wish her nothing but the best with her new life. Lawd I'm going to miss her and everyone else I've met who are moving away after this last quarter. I hope we can all stay in touch and see each other in the future!
I got a new boss at work that's actually...well, human! She's really nice and understanding and actually seems to enjoy working with people unlike my old one. Hopefully things will turn around there and I can actually enjoy being there again.
I should probably update my website with the stuff I've done, but I honestly want to fix some things before hand. I'm just worried that I'll plan out stuff and never follow through on it hahaha!
Well aside from that I'll probably be able to catch up on some Star Trek Online action, I need more people to play with so if you do lemme know your username and we'll do some dailies!
I suppose that's it in terms of current goings on. Hopefully I can be somewhat productive during my break!
