I love the smell of the south. The smell of humidity and dry grass. Farmland and lazy animals.
The heavy warmth of the Louisiana air when I sit on my Granny's porch at night listening to the crickets and rattle snakes.
I remember riding my bike to the swamp to feed the turtles with my cousin. Watching a baby alligator swim around the turtles, not even trying to hurt them.
Lately I have been feeling the loneliness of Winter. not from lack of people. but from being around them too much.
If I could be anywhere else right now, I would be in Louisiana.
Sleeping to the sound of a whirring ceiling fan in my Granny's king size bed.
