It had certainly not been the night Brian had expected.
He had actually been looking forward to the Academy dance for the first time since he became a cadet because this year, he had Anna to go with. The previous years, there had been no one, so he hadn't gone since just standing around watching other people dance wasn't his idea of a good time. But after he and Anna had started their relationship, suddenly the thought of going wasn't so bad anymore.
Of course, he had figured there might be a little friction with Morgan's date, considering the comments and soft mutterings Anna had made about the whole situation. He hadn't understood why, but he knew she had to have her reasons. What he had expected was walking into the confrontation out in the hall...and then the revelation that had come afterward.
His girlfriend was a vampire. A centuries old vampire.
It was a shock, definitely. But nothing had really changed about her. She was still the girl he had fallen in love with. And because of that, he knew that no matter what happened, they were going to work it out.
Once Damon and Morgan had left, he looked over at Anna, reaching up and drawing her back down to the couch with him. "Were you going to tell me?" he asked softly as he curled his hand around hers. It wasn't an accusation. He was more curious than anything, especially with Damon's appearance in their lives.
