I like that Sean's godson is obsessed with planes and particularly the Spitfires, and it just so happens that Leslie Howard played RJ Mitchell, the designer of the Spitfire, in The First Of The Few.

So totally hadn't planned that.

I keep thinking what the last few minutes of Leslie Howard's life must have been like. Whether he was amused by the martyrdom to the Allied cause or furious or resigned ... or heartbroken.

All of those things?

I hope they were brief and painless. I wish they had never happened.

Gad, Leslie Howard as Percy Blakeney does sinful things to my insides ... that scene by the fireplace ... the subtle changes of his expression, the way he moves closer to her and closer and then leans in and unf. So after two solid weekends of reading, I finally finished From Here To Eternity, that bloody mammoth of a book. And I have to admit a whole lot of fondness for it even though I know I'm possibly never going to read it again. Once was quite enough.
