Random things of note:
*** Clearly I must be the only person in the world who is completely unmoved and unimpressed and frequently bored by the new Joseph Arthur double album, Redemption City. Or so it would seem from the plethora of retweets. Seriously contemplating unfollowing him until the next album comes out. Problem is then I may not know when the next album comes out. #socialmediadilemma
*** Totally have Sweet Dreams Are Made Of These in my head after listening to
the absolutely marvellous cover Active Child did on Triple J this morning. He's so right, his voice matches hers so well. Now I only have to wait for someone to cut the song off from the jabber so I can put it on my iPod. Also, quietly excited for this video they're shooting in some Aussie swamp for Johnny Belinda. Hope he doesn't die in this one too. I really need to ask at some point what movie that soundgrab in the alternate version is from. Been driving me nuts ever since he leaked it. One day. I keep hoping someone else will beat me to it.
*** Am reading this bloody brilliant book called The Child Thief by this bloody brilliant artist/writer called Brom. The way it reinvents the Peter Pan story makes me so damned grateful and kinda vindicates the slight guilt I feel for never having gotten through reading the original. I fucking love this Peter Pan with knives and angst. And even though most of it seems set in New York, it seems so deliciously otherworldly it almost feels English to me. Fucking brilliant, man.
*** Got my eyebrows done yesterday by the Aunt's favoured organic skin care specialist lady. Thought it was a bit odd at first, not quite as natural as I'd like, but I've gotten used to it now. No doubt there'll be a pic taken tomorrow.
*** The crochet continues apace. I seem to be queueing up projects rather faster than I can complete them but then I have noticed this tendency to take on big damnably simple projects rather than small tricky ones. I will post pix at some point, yes. Tally so far: one blanket done up from scratch; one blanket crocheted together from knitted squares. Working on: one blanket in ever increasing rounds, just over the halfway mark. Queued up: two more baby blankets, then one very stylish shawl for a very stylish cousin, and then I wanna try my hand at an entrelac blanket/shawl for the sheer trickery of it.
*** Found The Brontes: A Life In Letters at the library. Fully intend to keep it for at least the month it'll take me to read them all and copy out stuff from Charlotte's letters. Yes, I did rewatch my favourite version of Jane Eyre the other day, how could you tell? Am staving off this year's re-read, though. So many other books to read.
*** Doing a fairly decent job of not being a writer. Almost settled into the reality of it now.
