Things of note:
*** The
new Michael Jackson song came out yesterday on the official site and my god, I actually liked it on first listen. Can totally see myself loving it on future oft-repeated listens. And my godmother pointed out that the release date for the album, michael, is in fact my great-grandfather's birthday. He was one of the bestest people ever. I loved that little coincidence and the fact that she noticed it. I still think Sony are clever bastards for putting it out so close to Christmas and I reserve my right to be suspicious of any new MJJ releases. But the kids. And omg new MJJ songs!
What I said to
sheba_finesse's Aquarian boy, fellow MJJ fan:
Oh I LIKE it! I can definitely see myself loving it on future listens. Yeah, the lyrics are pretty much what I expected from a title like that but the thing about 'why is it strange that I could fall in love' totally took me aback and is so very delicious.
I was quite unnerved by the malice in the way he sings his own name but then it totally fits in with the song and the whole idea that he was victimised by his own construct. *sighs happily at the deconstructive art*
I LOVE the electronic distortion and the gorgeous layered harmonies of the chorus and the unexpected (slightly silly) orchestral bits.
What I can't figure out though is when this might have been recorded. Hmmm.
*** I am so ridiculously ahead in the NaNo wordcount it's embarrassing. But equally so, I kinda want to get as much done in this time as possible. It's so fucking brilliant to be able to write like this, uninterrupted, not alone, knowing so many people are pushing themselves towards the same goal. And most of all, knowing that friends and relatives are watching, keeping track and cheering. Best feeling ever.
*** And that's pretty much my entire life right now. Back to the writing.
*** Oh, aside from
Steve Kilbey being totally freaking adorable and awkward and awesome. Hee! *hearts him, feels kinda guilty about abandoning the other novel, promises Kilbey she'll go back to it in the new year, goes off to write current novel*
