Then there was Emma Wildes' Secrets Of A Scarlet Lady, borrowed off liadlaith who had quite rightly warned me it was a silly book. Fun but silly.

It constantly irritated me. The concept was excellent, the feminist subtext almost text and very cool indeed. But gad, the writing.

I totally agree with you about the secondary couple needing their own book. I didn't have a problem with the writing, though.

Also, I don't think I described that book as silly. I think it was . . . the one about the footman. I can't remember its name.

Ahhh, it must have been the Elizabeth Boyle book you were talking about. Both have scarlet dresses on the cover so no wonder I got confused. I couldn't get into the Elizabeth Boyle one, can't even remember why ... :p

Man, that sounds terribly ominous. I never think any book should make itself be read sllloooooowwwwwww. I always try to pace myself with Chabon but even then I end up devouring and then getting upset when I finish it.
