Dear Author.
boojumlol told me about this site in one of our many romance novel discussions and I've fallen completely in love with it to the point of dependence. Smart Bitches, Trashy Reads posts far too much other stuff and not nearly enough reviews for my liking so I get quite frustrated having to wade through too much irrelevant shit to get to the stuff I want, not to mention the highly irritating ads down the side. Perhaps my tastes aren't trashy enough ... :p
The quality of writing in the actual reviews on Dear Author is something I absolutely cherish. Highly highly intelligent women who know about writing and aren't afraid to actually put that technical detail in the reviews, to appreciate it when it's done right in the novels and to be scathing when it's done wrong. Best of all, I love that the books reviewed range right across the board from mainstream genres to gay romance and to BDSM. *hugs hard*
There's a weekly poll that invariably startles me into thinking about some aspect of my reading habits that I've never considered before. And it's not just book reviews but movies too and a nice minimum of publishing/trade posts. Plus it's a nice clean elegant layout with no ads at all and everything tagged clearly.
So far, I've found two incredible writers through Dear Author: Meredith Duran and Sherry Thomas. And yes, it's gotten to the point of me coming across a name somewhere and wondering instantly if they've reviewed it. If that ain't proof of quality, I don't know what is. *lol*
