Day 15 ** A fanfic
What, just one?! No no, will have to have three, one from each of my fandoms that were.
BTVS: Hard Candy by anniesj and wisteria_. Because I will always be a Spuffy shipper and this series of vignettes and snapshots through the infamous Season Six is so powerful and sexy and dark, exactly the way they are. Mind you, I kinda love anything Spuffy by either of these authors, anyway. Annie SJ's A Ruination In Red was one of the first fics I read that made my insides clench with pure writer envy, with the longing of "That's how I want to write, that's what I want to do, oh god." And The Last Summer simply annihilates me, as it should.
Smallville: Three Impossible Things by seperis. My god, I re-read this and Sleep While I Drive so many times I practically had them memorised. Mesmerised anyway by mostly all that Jenn writes. And my god, how much I learnt about writing from the greats in this fandom. Between these stories and rageprufrock's Psychobabble, I was in fic heaven. Whenever I needed a quick fix or an immersion into excellent powerful sexual writing that felt here and now, not soldered into a book, obsolete by the time it hits the shelves, this is where I went.
And Supernatural: The show I love to hate before Bones came along but the show that yields so much brilliant fic by sheer dint of its crappy screenwriters, just like Smallville. Our fanfic writers fix all the problems of plot and characterisation in the shows. And yeah, I'm a Wincest girl all the way. I love my DeanandSam, and the kinkier the better. So darkhavens's Fundamentally Altered series gets me dead bang. And my go-to author being astolat, TMI is quite possibly my most favourite SPN fic. Warning: 'stremely kinky.
