shut the light on me

Horrific day made no better by a black rage from yesterday. Trent Reznor's good for these times when you need to insulate yourself from the world, a wall of music between you and people. The irony is I looked freaking hot today. Liek seriously.

Discovered over the past three days that high heels totally ease the pain of my ankle. As it is, the swelling's completely gone and all that's left is the original lump that happened just after the incident. I keep poking gingerly at it but doesn't hurt and even it's going down. Good o. Still spent a good portion of today with my shoe off and doing ankle rotations under the desk as I've been doing for the past week or so. For someone who never lets anyone see her bare feet, this is quite an accomplishment.

Court began at nine, wrapped at ten past six. I was so cravenly grateful that I chose yesterday to begin a re-read of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. When I started the day, I think I was at page 40 or something. By the end, I was at page 350. Jaysus. Nothing else would have gotten me through so many mindnumbing hours and nothing else would have distracted me enough to brighten my mood.

So I just treated myself to dinner at the local Greek place cos I've been craving keftedes since I read Matt Howard's new one, Taking Off, day before yesterday. note to self: review over the weekend. Never inhaled a meal so fast. The girls are so lovely there. And never mind that they won Outstanding Restaurant in this year's Inner West Business Awards but it turns out they do takeaway. Zomg, if only I had known eight months ago!

And as I walked home a few minutes ago, this thin perfect vivid rainbow curved right over the main street of Annandale. So many people were walking along with their heads twisted to look up. Even the teenage boy fashion victims skateboarding past me were impressed.

Now I have chocolate raspberry mousse and a chance to vanish into oblivion. Feel the need for a LJ header change coming on.
