Today's library haul: The Feminist Companion To Mythology, edited by Carolyne Larrington; and The Masterpiece: Jorn Utzon, A Secret Life by Philip Drew which is as much a biography of the Sydney Opera House as its architect. Still want to get through Orwell and Byron first. Damn, I should have gotten some Chesterton!
Today's awesome surprise: Machina II from the most generous
asaryu. Thank you so much, I didn't even realise they were four CDs! It's so good to hear alternate or outright new (to me) Corgan.
Today's new appellation: the Beast of Burden, as dubbed by the Aunt who happens to live right in the heart of town, not even five minutes from a twenty-four hour supermarket but chooses to buy her fruit and veg instead from the damned expensive organic shop on the other side of town. Luckily, she's most amused by her own naming genius. Beast of Burden, indeed.
Today's deepening appreciation: Pretty Hate Machine, really loving the mechanical slices and crashes, they just sound really good to my ears. And it's funny that aside from a couple of tracks on Mellon Collie, none of the music I've bought lately that I've feared would be too loud and aggressive for my delicate sensibilities ... actually is. Embrace the aggression? It just works for me.
Double Alias tonight, one with Gina Torres too. W0000ttt!
